Podiatrist referrals in Nashville, TN from Nov 04, 2014
Tiffany D. asked:
So with pain in my arch and heel of my left foot is the podiatrist going to be the person I need to see...I have heard some people say a chiropractor can help as well...Who do you recommend for either...
Kandi M. answered:
I suffer from plantar fasciitis currently and Dr Bruner with Active Life Chiropratic has done wonders for me!! He recommended some insoles that were not expensive, rolling my feet with frozen water bottles and he adjusts my feet for me. Huge difference from where I started. (615) 758-7373
Lesley M. answered:
For my plantar fascites I wear orthoheel shoes or flip flops....they are expensive but well worth it and support your arch! Don't go bare foot or wear flat flat shoes with no support for your arch. The physio had me picking up marbles with my toes and moving them into a cup! Good luck!!
Connie S. answered:
DEFINITELY sounds like plantar fasciitis. I will provide a link to Dr. Axe's EXCELLENT video on the subject at the end of this. I will also tell you that the things I did that helped me the most were 1) Seeing Beverly Staggs at ProActive Therapeutic Massage in Mt. Juliet for a massage. Her # is 294-9639. She was just able to stretch it for me better than I could on my own, so the relief came quicker. Also, she educated me about the actual cause, which was extremely helpful. I also switched to wearing Birkenstock shoes most of the time, and I have been symptom free for a long time now. Dr. Axe's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF7HkfcPrU4 I would say, "I feel your pain," but the truth is that I don't anymore. Praise the Lord. Hope you get relief soon.
Connie S. answered:
By the way, the fancy contraptions - not worth your money. The frozen tennis ball, or a rolling pin for stretching works wonders. If you are stomach sleeper, think about how that stretches your foot IN THE WRONG DIRECTION and adjust accordingly.
Jennifer D. answered:
Also ask your primary care for topical compound pain preparations to apply.
Leslie B. answered:
This worked for me almost right away.
Glenda M. answered:
Whew.... Just asked my friend how much they were at her store.... She said from $150-810!!!! I'm buying those^

I love love love orthoheels flip flops. I got mine at Belk. I wear them all the time around the house. They make my feet feel so good. I also got a pair on QVC. I roll my foot on a rolling pin when i'm at my desk working.
Sherry M. answered:
Chiro is the best solution
Sandy H. answered:
I suffered with this for a couple of years in both feet. It started because I was wearing flip flops one summer, all the time. No arch support and any kind and shoes with no support are the worst. My podiatrist is Dr. Rogers on Charlotte Pike downtown Nashville. LOVE him! He is older and a Christian man. He gave me the cortisone injections at first, and it helped. Then he recommended the orthotics. After the injections, I started wearing my Clark's shoes rather than buying the orthotics. Within a couple of weeks I had significant relief. Within about 1 mo. My pain was gone. The Clark's shoes are the best because they have firm support. Go and buy you a pair at Macy's or other dept. store and you will be amazed. You will need to wear them every day for relief. I told the dr. about them and he has started recommending them to his patients too. Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon.
Glenda M. answered:
What if I said my flip flops are Clarks...... Lol but I wait tables and lord have mercy!!!! I'm in pain...... Ok... Arch support it is...
Sandy H. answered:
I'm talking about the Clark's dress shoes. The ones with the thick soles. I wear them with dress pants and jeans. They really work and I haven't had any problems since.
Jenny S. answered:
Try arch support first. No flip flop. Did wonders for me.
Sharon S. answered:
I went to Dr Rogers for a neuroma, he is a wonderful podiatrist.
Jennifer D. answered:
Highly highly recommend seeing physiotherapy first. Podiatry typically will go for injections. Results Physiotherapy has provided myself and my patients with the best care and best outcomes. They have offices in MJ Hermitage and Lebanon. Typically referrals not needed to get started but will need one within 30 days.
Peggy M. answered:
Sounds like plantar fasciatis, (I doubt that is spelled correctly). I had it, thought my foot would rip in half. After my Dr diagnosed it . I just started wearing shoes with better arch support and then the pain went away. Definitely nothing flat like normal flip flops.
Steven F. answered:
Freeze a baseball and then roll it under your feet while pressing down on it. Works great.
Lori S. answered:
My 10 year old has this..after he plays basketball he says it's very painful or after he runs..esp. In The mornings. I hate this cause he's so young..I'm going to try the inserts at Walgreens
Neely C. answered:
Stretch that foot every morning before you hit the ground. Pull your toes toward you. If it's your planter faci. You most likely incurred an injury that inflamed that tendon. When you sleep at night your feet flop forward and the tendon heals crunched up and it is re injured or irritated once you start walking on it. A good week of heavy duty prednisone and ibuprofen with the stretches should fix it..
Glenda M. answered:
I think y'all are angels..... I thought I was getting old..... Whew!!!!! Going to Walgreens in morning!!!!!
Mellissa B. answered:

Debra B. answered:
Posted from Mayo Clinic - "Plantar fasciitis (PLAN-tur fas-e-I-tis) is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It involves pain and inflammation of a thick band of tissue, called the plantar fascia, that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes. Plantar fasciitis commonly causes stabbing pain that usually occurs with your very first steps in the morning. Once your foot limbers up, the pain of plantar fasciitis normally decreases, but it may return after long periods of standing or after getting up from a seated position. Plantar fasciitis is particularly common in runners. In addition, people who are overweight and those who wear shoes with inadequate support are at risk of plantar fasciitis"

Ron S. answered:
plantar faciaitis - google it and do those exercises. Problem actually originates in the calf..not in the heel.
Tiffany D. answered:
Oh okay then...Thanks for that...
Debra B. answered:
Tiffany, you definitely have plantar faciaitis - I too had it about a year ago, pain most incredibly when I first hop out of bed. I did the online exercises and rigged up a medical bandage I had at home (a long one) to wrap my foot in an arched position and wrap it up to my calf. That is how I would sleep at night. I also went to Walgreens and found the arch supports just for plantar faciaitis, which help effectively. I wear the arch supports as often as I can and I have not had any pain or issues in a very long time.
Ashleigh S. answered:
Lori Sutton-Lukins my son has the same problem and I took him to a podiatrist. It's important for them to stretch. Place hands on wall and put one foot forward with the forward knee bent keeping the back leg straight. He should feel the stretch but not too painful. Hold for 10 sec and switch to the other foot. Do both feet twice and do this at least 10 times a day. I know it seems like a lot but it helps. Their muscle is pulling on the heel bone causing pain. This applies to adults as well. Glenda June Talton Morrow I have feet problems and the podiatrist recommends the same thing for me. Dr. Bushman at summit can provide shoe inserts for the problem. Unfortunately you can't wear flip flops any more, not enough support.
