Dentist referrals in Berlin, Germany from Jan 23, 2015
Cannelle L. asked:
Hi everyone, thanks for accepting me in this group. Im a French young woman suffering from Tmj after a teeth has been extracted and not replaced one year ago. I am living in GERMANY in Berlin, and have seen one dentist here who made me a splint, as well as a physiotherapist who helped a lot reducing the crisis. However I feel a bit disappointed cuz my dentist mentioned me that the splint would be for my whole life, which is very different from the other aapproaches I have heard from patients who usually get a splint and then figure out a way to stabilise the right position of thé jaw + do their implants if needed.
I am therefore looking for names of recommended dentists un Germany ans BERLIN especially... i feel a bit desperate ans would like to find THE person I can trust, and get a second opinion on thé diagnosis made.
Thank you very much for your help,
Cannelle
Petra W. answered:
my doc also told me the splint will most likely be for life, but once the jaw joints are stabilised, the splint only needs adapting (to your bite) like twice a year, if you´re lucky. My doc wears a splint himself and has reached that stage where he only wears it nightly and adapts it twice a year. I myself am far from that yet...

Thanks, Petra. Well maybe it depends on the cause of the TMJ, but still... For how long have you been wearing your splint? Do you feel a bit better? I hope so ! smile emoticon

Petra W. answered:
you´re welcome, Cannelle. My left disc shifted 2 yrs ago, incredible pain, endless months of searching for help, found a TMJ doc last May, who made me wear a splint. Muscle-relaxation has totally improved with the splint, AND thanks to the splint the left disc now repositions (when mouth is open), but sadly the right disc has now shifted as well, doc can´t tell why...we can only keep going...totally sucks
