We had a tree fall into our family room tonight, luckily nobody was in there when it happened. Looking for recommendations on available tree service, contractors and if getting an independent insurance appraiser is worth it. I've seen an appraiser on here in Hingham (I think) before. thanks.

Public adjusters are great IF you are having any difficult time with your adjuster from the company or don't think you're getting a fair claim service. Remember that public adjusters work for you and your claim amount is adjusted because they are paid from it. I say call your agent and discuss first and then see how your own insurance company who you've been paying will handle. Most likely you will have a deductible as well. So just get your estimates in order and do your due diligence to avoid any potential loss beyond what has already happened. I personally wouldn't think right off the bat that you're going to get taken advantage of. That's not what insurance companies pride themselves on (it's an ill conceived perception unfortunately). Start with getting your estimates for repair and debris removal and call your agent. Hope that helps you!
