Restaurant referrals in Holly Springs, NC from May 24, 2013
Stephanie S. asked:
Still being a newbie, I want to ask what are the "must see" places and/or great restaurants in the area? Do you head into Cary and Raleigh or are there gems here I need to find?
Jerry C. answered:
My Way and Little Hen in HS. Sitti in downtown Raleigh.
Mary G. answered:
Raleigh has great (free!) museums and many restaurants. Try Gravy for Italian, 18 Seaboard for updated Southern, at North Hills: Cocquette Brasserie. More casual, family places: the Pit in downtown Raleigh; Char Grill is a classic. There's one in Cary near The Fresh Market, Burger Fi is awesome and has 2 locations: Raleigh and Cary. In Fuquay, try The Aviator Smokehouse. Kid friendly. Try the house made root beer. In Cary try TriBeCa Tavern. For Thai food, Thai phoon in Raleigh. Also, 518 for Italian. We bring our kids there. It's in the Glenwood South area. I also highly recommend Little Hen. Bass Lake Draft house is close and pretty good family place. Sorry this is a lot! I have more, just gave highlights.

There are plenty of great parks in the area including Jordan Lake and Harris Lake. Farmers Market Restaurant for southern food, Pie Birds for everything baked in a pie!, Abbey Road Tavern in Cary is a dive but awesome burgers! It's beetles themed. Rare date night- Rays Restaurant in Cary. Pricey but worth it. Downtown Apex is adorable.
Stephanie S. answered:
Gone to one museum in Raleigh, the one in Durham, TriBeCa and Bass Lake, but the rest are all new to me, so thanks for the recommendations and keep them coming!
Stayce K. answered:
You'll def have to check out Marbles Museum downtown for the kids. The history museum is also great. Bass Lake (across the street from the Salem Ridge exit) is great too. The kids can fish, you can rent a little 1 horsepower trawling motor that tuts round the lake, the 1 mile trail around the lake is fun for a nature walk. Btw, my kids are about the same age and we're over off of Kinderston. If you are around here, maybe we can get the kiddie's together!
Stephanie S. answered:
That'd be fun- I'm near the end of Linksland (past Salem Ridge)- we should plan it!
Betsy M. answered:
The Lemur center in Chapel Hill, Tiger Rescue in Pittsboro. Arrange for guides for both.
Sandy J. answered:
As another newbie, I thank you all for the posts! So much to see and do around here!
