Alexis M. asked: Dear all, do some of you have had the following problem? Our company, which is based abroad, did a job for a client in Serbia, the offer was accepted, the job is finished, but we did not get paid yet and the client keeps postponing the payment. Is there any official process to get paid - for example through a lawyer, institution, etc.? Please PM me if you know who could help, thank you in advance!

Stefano B. answered: My law firm could help but the thing is since it's between a company from abroad, the process will not be easy nor cheap.:/

Alexis M. answered: Just for the precision and to avoid that we slip into comments about Serbian companies, it's actually an international company with offices in Belgrade, but none in our home country.

Marijačeslava T. answered: Why people let this thing happen? Even when I was living in the Usa I have never done any job before even getting paid 50% in advance. For Serbia, ask before you go into business. Yes you can sue them, but it will be long process.

Detlef B. answered: I think the best way to go now (as the damage already seems to be done, contract-wise) is to threaten the company's international headquarter with legal action and see what happens. Action in Serbia will take years without a sure outcome

Julie W. answered: Good luck with that!

Julien M. answered: Hello Alexis Malalan, I sent you a PM, a friend of mine had a similar problem, it actually can be solved! If not I'm journalist I can publish the story lol

Aska W. answered: Avoid going to court if possible and just try to resolve it asap. Payment is an issue everywhere, but here-everyone waits until the last possible minute. Just make them realise that that time is now.
