If you're willing to experiment before laying out a lot of cash....try to clear the standing water, let it drain down as much as it will, then put a cup of dishwasher detergent mounded over the drain and pour a pot of boiling water over it. I have cleared many a drain with this method. One time I heard it clear in the middle of the night hours after I treated it. Then I went to Home Depot and got fine mesh metal drain strainers. The plastic ones don't work. Daughters' and my hair were clogging up the drain. Is it a pain to clean them every shower? A little bit. Our drains don't clog any more though. Same with clogged toilets. If you can let it sit overnight, pour liquid dish soap into the toilet. Usually clears with the morning flush. Are plumbers' bills high? Yes! Good luck!
