Towing referrals in Oklahoma City, OK from Oct 09, 2016
Jeff H. asked:
I am interested in finding and towing a small trailer with my 15 Victory Cross Country. We have a 2200 Mile trip planned next year and the added space would be great to have. What are some good ideas for small trailers? Now keep in mind, I dont want to eat up too much of my trip budget on a trailer. I'm already dropping $250 for a hitch. Just cause we have a motorcycle doesn't mean we are rich. This is an expensive hobby.
Fred W. answered:
Harbor freight tag a long trailer $389.00. some use it as is others modify it a bit. I just bought one to pull behind my CC. Just be sure to repack the wheel bearings.. BTW which hitch did you buy?
Drew M. answered:
Yep tag a long works good.
Aaron F. answered:
Big D custom hitches/racks

Jeff Horton One thing that I have not seen mentioned in this post. If you add any lights or are going to pull a trailer. You must install a electrical load equalizer otherwise you will end up having issues with your bike. Attached is a photo of the style I used. I found this on eBay for less than $20
Brian I. answered:
Harbor Freight
Matt R. answered:
Tim Roberts maybe chime in about yours I think everyone has said pretty much everything though
Gregory H. answered:
This is actually humorous All the pics of Visions... With Trailers...
Tim R. answered:
If you get a harbor freight trailer first repack bearings put l e d lights on it.... as you are putting it together on the back side of the springs put a piece of rubber in between the spring and frame . So the spring doesn't smack the frame when you hit bumps . They don't use a good bearings you can find American made I just don't remembered who makes them .and you can order new bearings for it through harbor freight but I keep mine well greased. I have around 6000 miles on mine with no problems for around 700 dollars in it . I also bought a spare tire and holder for it to just in case. Also use the isolator kit for your wiring it helps make things better
Sonny H. answered:
Home made. 250$
Jeff H. answered:
Thank all for the input. I am buying the hitch and wiring set up from Big D. I have thought of the shipping option. A trailer will also open up possibilities of work travels as I can't get my tool bag on my bike.
Chrissy P. answered:
We pull a trailer all the time for rallies and weekend trips. No one has ever given us grief over it. Everyone always asks us how it hauls, where'd we get it and can we fit all of our stuff in it. It's 19 cubic feet. Can't even feel it behind us at 90 mph.
Chrissy P. answered:
By the way, you have to hold an insurance policy for the trailer. It doesn't go with the motorcycle.
Gregory H. answered:
Return the hitch and save a ton of money - Mail (or UPS or FedEx) your extra clothes ahead to a hotel or two. Mail your dirty laundry and your souvenirs home. No need to carry EVERYTHING with you.
Drew M. answered:
Try hauling 6 sets of mufflers on a bike once! Haha trailer was handy
Ron C. answered:
I don't go very far without my wife on the back. She likes to have more than the bags & tour pak holds. Traveling with a happy wife is far & away better than an unhappy one!
Gregory T. answered:
For those who say you don't need a trailer, it depends what you're doing. It's great for tent camping. I can carry everything (other than personal items) 5 people need to go camping. 10 x16 tent, 9 x9 tarp canopy, food, cooking/ eating utensils, folding chairs, lanterns, etc, etc.
Jeremy J. answered:
I've got over 15 k miles pulling this trailer. Pulls great!
Jamming O. answered:
Harbor Freight small trailer. Like someone said..check and repack bearings and replace the horrible lights with some LED lights. You'll need a 5 to 4 wire converter for the lights. Just put one together and wired a friends bike for it. I was impressed for the cost of the trailer.
Vohn B. answered:
BigD rack......solid/affordable/handy. Darryl Wray
Mike P. answered:
Have you considered a trunk with a rack?
Brent W. answered:
Harbour freight has them for around $300
Kevin L. answered:
This is what I use
Bryant B. answered:
Sure you want all that added worry? I've been gone for a week to 10 days several times and the XC with all its storage was PLENTY for two of us...
Robert O. answered:
Aluma. Thomas Bus Company ships all over and has the best prices. Solid trailer. Its not color matched plastic but it pulls great and is bulletproof. Not as cheap as homemade car top carrier but not bad. ~$1600
Ron C. answered:
Jeff, if you were close by I'd loan you mine. Surely there's someone in your area that has one they'd loan. I believe ours is 18 cubic feet, and you just don't even notice it behid you. My wife wouldn't think of taking a real trip without it! http://minitrailerusa.com/nomad-trailer.htm
Bob P. answered:
Save the money and just put a luggage rack on your trunk. Wife and I did a week long motorcycle trip this way, two saddle bags, trunk, and a big dry-bag strapped to the luggage rack. Plenty of storage and that was on a Vision.
Kerry R. answered:
We have been pulling a trailer for years and love it. Never a worry about someone stealing your stuff strapped to your bike.
