Ajay M. asked:
Hi guys, mega weird problem, when I push the clutch down there is a rattle, now most people would say that the slave cylinder is away but I just changed the clutch (cylinder aswell) and the rattle is still there any ideas folks, my mechanic is kinda out of ideas.
Ryan S. answered:
So put a new clutch in and slave cyclinder.would off dobe the thursh bearing whilst striped down and put a flywheel and xlutxh basically kit
Ajay M. answered:
Didn't change the flywheel but done everything else, thinking maybe input shaft to the gearbox?
Ajay M. answered:
That's why I got it changed but the noise is still there #confused
Ajay M. answered:
But to hear it you would swear it is the thrust bearing
Ryan S. answered:
Are the driveshafts clicking or noisy?
Ajay M. answered:
Not that I'm aware why ryan
Ryan S. answered:
Maybe thts the noise can hear?either tht or ri g gear noisy tho some clutches have issues bew ones so could be tgt and warranty covers it straight up
Anthony B. answered:
It's Iver a dual mass or a solid flywheel It mite be a cv joint on a drive shaft dry
Nathan M. answered:
I had same problem, got a 1.8 coupe, just done gearbox and full clutch kit, these cars have hydrolic release bearings and them tend to fail and let fluid leak in to the bell housing. Also the shoes on the clutch plate come loose from this and rattle. dont drive it get the box stripped honestly i made same mistake and im 600 quid out of pocket for a 20 mile trip i thought the noise would go away.
Ajay M. answered:
But what exactly is the rattle Nathan I have the clutch kit changed
Ryan S. answered:
What oil did fill box back up we.and we rattle could be if had new bearing and springs are good or replaced on new clutxh plate.what sort condition was flywheel
Ajay M. answered:
Flywheel was fine apparently, and not sure what he topped it up with but he told me it was topped up well now but was a little low before changing the clutch
Ryan S. answered:
Mmm find out what gear oil as needs a speftic for a reason.dnt do gearbox good if use wrong stuff.and do u thing gearbox coukd be no good maybe lose bit or broken piece inside how bad is it.
Gavin C. answered:
input shaft noise will go away when your foots on the clutch
Ajay M. answered:
It drives fine, its just this noise, could it be something with the master cylinder not allowing fluid to the slave cylinder?
Anthony B. answered:
Did they ever put the dual mass flywheel on the astra's as they are shit & it may be this
Ajay M. answered:
Single mass flywheel in mine
Ralph J. answered:
Sounds like thrust bearing noise to me
