Dentists in the Area Hey everyone!
Just wondering if you can suggest a good dentist, preferably with direct billing.

I like “Go dental”. Dr. Hanna is extremely patient and knowledgeable. It feels like you come to your friends, despite the fact that all my life I was scared of dentists. The receptionist, Heather, is very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place. 134 Jackson st. E. (905)528 6800.

Dr Mark Shankman down in dundas at Dundas Valley Dentistry. entire staff is super friendly, great with kids and scared adults (like me) alike. It's a comfortable setting, and I've been going there **since I was a kid.** My kids and wife now go there too - we drive some distance to get there because it's worth it. My $0.02

I see Dr. Fernando Saucedo at Uptown Dentistry, located in the Upper James and Stone Church plaza with Cora’s in it. He is a dream come true! I used to have so much anxiety with going to the dentist, that I stopped going when I moved to Hamilton. Then my friend recommended this office and I tried it out. He is patient, knows what he’s doing and wants to make it the most comfortable experience you can have! For example, I explained that my anxiety was related to pain during fillings and he said it was most likely because the previous dentists didn’t freeze around the area as well as the spot that they were working on. Had a filling with him and did not feel a thing- dentist anxiety immediately eliminated! They also do direct billing!

Dr. Joe in Grimsby (maybe 20 min from Hamilton). Great dentist.

We go to MM Family & Sleep Dentistry over on Winterberry by the movie theatre. They do direct billing and are amazing with chickens like me.

Dr. Marcogliese on Upper Gage: (905) 389-1755 Great dentist and staff. My mom starting going here after she was unsatisfied with her previous dentists care.

I like Eastgate dental. They have payment plans which is nice for those without insurance I am not sure whether or not they direct bill. Personally I really like them because last time I went for a cleaning they asked if I wanted to do xrays and I said honestly I just want to get out of here as cheaply as possible and they did the bare minimum they could get away with and then when they asked about flossing I mentioned I was trying to work it back into my routine after suffering trauma she was like don't worry about it too much your teeth look good. That was so refreshing to hear after a lifetime of "floss more, brush more" advice
covert81 replied:
we go to [Fraccaro Dental Group](https://www.fraccarodentalgroup.com/) on the east mountain. We used to go to one in Westdale across from the high school but the core dentists left and the replacements were a rotation from Mississauga that never remembered you and always asked the same vague questions that'd be in your chart, and at one point were super rude to us (example: dentist was extracting a broken tooth. he slipped on his grip and hit another part of my mouth and I made an audible sound. he rolled his eyes and said "I'm not doing a bad job. just be quiet". We never went back after that.

I go to Nebo Dental and I love it. I hadn’t been to the dentist in... too long (20 ish years?) and they were super kind about it, did all the work I needed done, and it wasn’t nearly as terrifying as I hyped it up to be. They work with my insurance to see what I can get done within my yearly limits and planned accordingly. Definitely recommend them!
Hairy-Loss2810 replied:
Smiles on 5 - Chan Dentistry, it's in Waterdown (still Hamilton-ish) but worth the drive. Probably the best dentist I've ever been to. They really go above and beyond. A super classy operation from the min. you walk in the door.

Upper Ottawa dental is excellent. Not sure if they do direct billing, though, but as for their work I've always been very satisfied.

My family and I go to Morgan dental. The do direct billing. I have nothing but positive reviews. They were awesome with my daughter (3) I've had all four wisdom teeth removed there with no issues even though one was quite tricky. Had fillings and cleaning done. I neglected going to the dentist for 20 years and can honestly say that in the three years I've been with them my oral health has greatly improved. Dentist is awesome, all the hygienists I've dealt with have been great and the receptionist is exceptional. I highly recommend!

Mountain Dental Arts on Concession. Direct bills, always gets you in as soon as they can, have 2 of the best dentists I've ever had.
pumpernickelbasket replied:
Queenston dental has been phenomenal for my husband and I. They referred me out and I was assessed for an aching tooth by Dr Calzonetti out of his office at Queenston and Centennial. No bullshit, not a bad price, may not bill directly to all insurance but the out of pocket for the whole referral was $125 and he didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need like a lot of them will.
fadedspark replied:
Century stone. It always gets tons of recommendations here, and after following them myself, great experience. Fully recommended.

Upper Ottawa Dental Clinic on Upper Ottawa (obviously) just south of Concession St. Been going there for many years, wife just started going there as well and we both think the whole staff are wonderful.
coreythestar replied:
I go to Eastgate Dental and have always been really happy with them. They have mall hours which means they're open 7 days a week, and they bill my insurer directly. They also take emergency cases (although you pay a premium for same-day stuff).

My husband and I changed from our hometown dentists to Stonehill dental, specifically Dr Bob. He's young, friendly, and really excited by dentistry. He actually figured out the freezing problem I'd been having my whole life at my last dentist!

I've been to a good handful of them and my favourite so far has been Century Stone Dental. Both of the main dentists are great and their service is awesome and flexible. Pathways Dental is good too if you're up towards Ancaster. I really disliked Filice, they were really pushy with getting you in for more procedures (no thanks I don't need to pay to have someone teach me how to floss) and just had really annoying staff who were incredibly fake-nice always and it never felt like a "natural" interaction with them.

Dr Gill at [http://www.chiesadentalcare.com/](http://www.chiesadentalcare.com/) Mohawk & Upper Wentworth on the mountain.

I had spent my life going to Dr. Mackay in Dundas (his son is the cartoonist for the Spec). He retired and the replacement he found is not great. He seems more interested in chatting with you than with actually checking out your oral health. We switched to Westdale Dental (at Main and Longwood, right underneath the radio studio) due to convenient hours. There's been a lot of turnover in this clinic with dentists coming and going. We really liked Andrea the hygenist, and she left in the summer, and moved to a dentist office on the east mountain near the theatre. We will be moving up there soon.

Depends where you live I guess, but Michelle Mundy at Harvard Square at west mountain is awesome.

Dr Womack did my corrective dental surgery. He's really good but out of my price range. I need to be able to make payments. Because of the work both Jamie and I do, we have to be careful when we have money because we don't know how long we'll have to make it last! Lol. I'll look into the Indian Health. Thank you!

I sympathize, Leah, I've had a broken tooth since last fall, it wasn't hurting but I look like the 'toothless, bearded hag' (minus the beard!) finally made an appointment for mid-July. Hope you find someone good. Dr. Weichers was our favorite back in the day!

Dr. Doug Moss, family dentistry on Wood St, west of the high school.
Century Stone Dental. Dr. Urquhart and Dr. Sims are excellent. The rest of the staff are all excellent too. Very kind, they educate you, very clean premises, very gentle. All around an excellent office.

Limeridge Dental on Upper Wentworth is pretty good. Sadly, I don't know of any fairly priced dentists.

I've been to smilecrafters recently (dr remi) after switching dentists, and have been very pleased. All the staff is great. He even found a rotten root canal that other dentists have previously failed at discovering. This alone will make me always trust him.

Epimethius17 replied:
I have a cracked molar myself. I contacted my dentist. Apparently emergency procedures are allowed. Dentists are open for limited procedures based on pain level and need. If you have a regular dentist contact them first otherwise contact the local dental academy (which is apparently the local arm of the dentists association) and they'll direct you to which dentists are open for emergency procedures.

LaPewPew-- replied:
Until you're able to get it extracted, use advil cold & sinus for the pain (red caplets not gel caps). Works like a charm and pretty quickly
rootsandchalice replied:
I also have a cracked molar. I called three dentists, including my own, and they said no. They each asked me a series of questions and if you can manage pain with advil or tylenol they do not consider it emergency. It obviously really sucks as food is also getting stuck in mine so I brush it a million times a day. Good luck, OP. Mine has been cracked for 6 weeks so I sympathize.
JiuJitsuPatricia replied:
this is going to be me soon, i cracked one of my molars really badly a couple years ago, but they managed to patch it up / fill in the cracked off part, it was right at the gumline.... Now it's starting to act like it did in the weeks leading up to me getting an appt to get it looked at originally. my regular dentist isn't open even for emergencies:(
TheRobfather420 replied:
Emergency dentistry right now requires uncontrollable bleeding of serious swelling to get an appointment. Same exact thing happened to me 3 weeks ago. I had to have a phone consult with my dentist, he told me what to say. That I had uncontrollable swelling that was bad in the morning but got better throughout the day. I also told them cold water relived my pain which was true. I was approved for an emergency appointment and got fixed up in under 36 hours. I'm having a hard time articulating myself because I just smoked a joint, but basically my dentist told me to exaggerate symptoms of swelling as pain alone wouldn't get me in.
