Gym recommendations near Union Square I've done a bit of research on the gyms around Union Square and they all look pretty pricey. I haven't found any of the low cost big chains in the area. I was hoping to pay around $50/month but I'm not sure if that's possible. Please let me know if you have a good gym recommendation within walking distance of Union Square!

I don't know exactly what you are looking for in a gym, but I have been going to RxStrength (https://www.rxstrengthtraining.com/) for about 2 years. It's a great gym with wonderful people. It's a small close knit group. With Crossfit-like classes, Strength classes, kettle bell classes, Powerlifting group, and open gym hours of you don't feel like doing a group class. Jeff, the owner, is a cool dude and is a good instructor and has a great group of coaches working with him. It's cheaper than other gyms in the area and if you sign up for 6 months or is only $135 which has been well worth it for me.
Anybody know of any Spartan training/gyms in the Boston area? I was not prepared this race, so I need some assistance for my next!

So, not to bash the "come to my OCR gym" crowd, but most people suffer and fail at races because they don't have the basic fitness to attack it. I don't care how good your monkey bar technique is, if you don't have upper body strength it doesn't matter. While we teach obstacles and Spartan stuff here at https://www.facebook.com/213510365348995 Rx Strength Training, we focus on making better overall athletes, then teaching them obstacle technique. You can't get that with a wreck bag and a late night jog, or any number of custom built obstacles.
