Gym recommendations near Union Square I've done a bit of research on the gyms around Union Square and they all look pretty pricey. I haven't found any of the low cost...

There's a Planet Fitness in the basement of Porter Sq. Edit: Just remembered there's also a Golds and some other gym in Twin City Plaza across from the Sav-More liquors

VIM in Central Square! The best! Tons of equipment, tons of classes, never crowded and no one ever bothers/hassles you. Great trainers too! Two locations right on Mass Ave near the Red Line.

I'm about to join the Y, it's cheap, although decidedly non-fancy.

Definitely a stretch and it doesn’t meet your walking distance requirement - give GymIt in either Watertown or Brookline a shot. Decent gym and it’s only $30/month for unlimited access. They got decent classes too.

Not BSC in Davis.

Theres one in assembly that is pretty cheap I think. The Y on Highland is like around 30 I think, not the nicest place. BSC davis is pretty solid, around 50/mo.

Training room Boston. I've been going there regularly for 4 years, they're an amazing local gym. Pay per class with zero membership fee. Local business, two locations, no sales pressure, very chill.

Ive been paying for a full membership at Brooklyn Boulders ($135) a month, but hear me out - A full gym, weights, bouldering, climbing, a coworking office type space, always have somewhere to go, something to do, somewhere to hang out... Its worth it for me.

I'm surprised no one has opened a gym *in* Union Square.

Ever fitness twin city plaza. $29 a month $50 a year

What kind of equipment are you looking for? If you are looking for something with weight lifting equipment, Ever Fitness is the option. Assembly doesn’t have squat racks and bans deadlifting, don’t even give them a look unless you are looking for cardio/machines. Same with planet fitness

Not sure if your gender, but if you’re female I’d recommend healthworks in porter square, it’s not the closet but I’ve walked/biked there from union and winter hill areas. The 87 bus will take you right there too. It’s worth the price, the gym has everything, lots of classes and great amenities. And no gross dudes lol They sent me some referrals for friends (tbh not i don’t know the details, but I think it includes a trial) but happy to share if you’re interested
