About us

For more than 60 years, Paul Gauweiler has brought so much wonder and joy to people around the world, especially during the holidays, that some call him "the Santa of Bakers."

He has baked cakes for U.S. military troops in Afghanistan, provided "wow" pastries for "American Idol," and regularly prepares the mouth-watering desserts for Disneyland's Club 33.

But what "Santa Paul" is best known for internationally, is his acclaimed "Baumkuchens" (also known as tree cakes). From his longtime Huntington Beach, CA bakery, The Cake Box, the impish 77-year-old, creates the special tree cakes for weddings, state dinners, anniversaries, Disneyland and even ships them to customers in Japan, Canada, South America and many other places on the globe.

My sister called Great Dane a few weeks before my birthday to order a German chocolate cake and they said they didn't have the stuff to bake it, but we could come in and buy a cake that day.     I second The Cake Box! Same thing happened to me with Great Dane, they couldn't do my cake so I went to Cake Box and they did an awesome job!!

    Hi! I am looking for a place that sells gourmet style birthday cakes. Years ago someone had me try a cake with bourbon infused icing or something like that. It was crazy good. The place isn't in Huntington Beach though, and I like to stay local if I can to help out. Can anyone recommend some place? The cake doesn't have to have bourbon infused icing, but it would help. :)

    Great dane is great. I went to cake box got my daughters b day cake since great Dane was closed kind of last minute thing. The cake box cake was dryer then a sponge. It was sick I asked for butter cream frosting I could taste crisco in it even asked is it real butter cream no lard never go back there again had grocery store cakes that were better then cake box.
