We know your pets are an important part of your life, and that is why we dedicate our time, knowledge and services to the compassionate care of your best friends.
Weems Road Animal Hospital has been serving the Columbus, Georgia community since 1976. We are a full-service small animal hospital that offers comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care, and emphasizes preventative medicine. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local specialists and referral centers when advanced diagnostic or surgical procedures are required. Our facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-house diagnostic laboratory (CBC, Chemistry profile, Electrolytes, Clotting profile), in-house x-ray, and surgery suite.
It is Weems Road Animal Hospital's desire to provide you with the highest quality veterinary care at a reasonable fee. Professional services, hospitalization, the quantity of medications and supplies utilized, and the high caliber of our staff forms the basis of our fees. Unlike a human hospital, the facilities and equipment provided are due entirely to the private enterprise of Dr. McDermott and represent a substantial investment in the community.
Dr. Scott McDermott is a 1997 graduate of the University of Georgia and a 2001 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation Dr. McDermott accepted a position within a mixed animal practice in north Georgia where he practiced for over 8 years before purchasing Weems Road Animal Hospital in July, 2009. His areas of special interest include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dietary management and dental health. Dr. McDermott is married to his wonderful wife, Amy and has four children, Matthew, Katie, Ben and Emily. He also shares his house with their dog, Georgia and cat, Optimus Prime. Outside of work he likes spending time with his family, SCUBA diving, and reading.
