Maybe there are some Israeli local companies that do not make this a headache. TIALaurent B. replied:Three things- there are some mandatory insurances that you cannot decline in israel. 1. There is supplemental coverage that your CC can cover if you opt out and your CC will cover you in israel. Confirm w your cc first and they may need to email you a letter stating just that. Note that the deposit for the car may be higher as a result but you can ask them that specific question about the deposit amount. 2. Most places charge an airport service fee, as noted above so it raises the total. 3. Try noachcar.co.il. They have operators that speak English well and work with the major companies and will tell you exactly what you need to do to avoid paying VAT, waive CDW, etc.
