Ordering fabric online I’m planning on making a shirt, but the local fabric stores have quite limited selections. Any recommendations for places to order quality fabrics online? I’m trying to get some wool. I don’t need anything super fancy, but I don’t want to get any cheap stuff, either.
Wooly-thoughts replied:
I would add [FabricMartFabrics.com](https://FabricMartFabrics.com) and [DenverFabrics.com](https://DenverFabrics.com). Unfortunately you may be out of luck with wool until the Fall. (At least, I've found this to be so).
Looking for heavyweight coating wool to make a cloak I want to make a cloak and I'm trying to find heavyweight coating wool, but it's almost impossible to find anywhere. Most places have a blend or something, and pretty much anyone who has 100% wool has it in medium weight.
Does anyone know anywhere that sells it? I know it's expensive. I'm not terribly concerned about the price.

[Fabric Mart](https://www.fabricmartfabrics.com) is having a sale on wool right now. However, hurry! I think the sale will be over in a few hours. If not that, go to a thrift store. Find an old wool blanket. Wash it, cut the cloak out, line it with silk or linen. Done.
Are there any good fabric stores besides Joanns in Utah? My resources are suddenly so limited after Hancocks closed down. Or if you have a similar struggle and choose to shop online, what are good websites to find fabric?
Alexis D. replied:
I've mostly bought fabric online now that hancock is gone some sites I've liked is fashionfabricsclub.comfabric.comdharmatrading.com and fabricmartfabrics.com
Looking for a good online store to buy some wool and cotton. Planning on making some leg wraps as well as some cheap loaner tunics. Wondering where I should order some and some recomendations for what type of fabric I should get.
tashamedved replied:
Fabric.com is always good for cottons. Fabrics-store.com and graylinelinen.com are good for linens, and I've had good luck finding wool at fabricmartfabrics.com. If you decide you want to buy your leg wraps, though, Avalon Naturals on Etsy sells them: https://www.etsy.com/shop/AvalonNatural?ref=l2-shopheader-name Good luck!
Mallory asks: Where is a good fabric store for costume making it must have leather?
Can anyone help?
Denise O. replied:
Hi Mallory: Depends on the quality of leather you desire. Colorado Fabrics in Littleton may carry some leather, but I know they have faux leather. I have not seen leather in any of the other Colorado fabric stores. Online, you can get some very good leather at GorgeousFabrics.com, FabricMartFabrics.com, MoodFabrics.com, HartsFabric.com, NYFashionCenterFabrics.com, DenverFabrics.com and etc. the only thing is the hides available come and go regularly at these sites; so, one site might not always have leather hide inventory. I have also checked out, but never bought from, FashionLeather.com . I Hope this helps. Are you making costumes for an event? Does anyone have a good online source for 100% Wool? I know where to get it in town. But cannot find what I'm looking for.

Wood-n-Woven has great period wools (handwoven): https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wood-N-Woven/107869355902092 You can also sometimes get great deals at FabricMart: http://www.fabricmartfabrics.com/
I am looking for a good source for high quality wool fabric.
Diane D. replied:
FabricMart Fabrics frequently has good deals on Shetland wool. I've been very happy with my purchases. (You do have to do some searching; they mix the good stuff in with the boucles and the blends and the really ugly plaids.) http://www.fabricmartfabrics.com
