Frank G. asked:Looking for a recommendation. My R-22 AC unit which is only about 10 years old has a leak. The freon only lasts about 2 weeks. The HVAC contractor that seems very nice and honest says only thing I can do is replace the whole system. Looking for HVAC contractor or someone that works on the side that would try to diagnose the leak and repair it instead of throwing away a perfectly good unit. Ken L. asked:Hello Neighbors, My name is Ken and I am new to this group! I am in search of a good, reasonably priced plumber. I have a gas line the is currently running outside an interior wall, and I want it moved to inside the wall so it will be out of sight, not to mention much safer. I called one company, Service Professionals, and they said they would send someone over on Monday to do the work. I asked how much? They said they would tell me then. I asked what if the price is too high. I was told that I would have to pay a 59.00 service call fee plus tax. just for the visit. However, if I choose to go through with their job, the 59 would be deducted from my bill. Not real comfortable about this. I asked about free estimates, and apparently they had never heard of this? I feel as though by charging, they can set whatever price they want and always be guaranteed at least 59 dollars. Am I wrong in my reasoning? Recommendations or thoughts neighbors?
