Looking for some car advice... I have never bought second hand in Australia. I understand that a RWC must be provided for any car currently registered to be legally sold in QLD. I am looking at buying a 2012 Kia Sportage with Rego & RWC.. 1. Should I also be seeking an independent mechanical check myself before going ahead with the purchase? 2. What kind of back up (if any) do I have if I spend X amount of money privately on a car and there's something detrimentally wrong with it? 3. What would the normal process be for buying privately if you did want to have an independent mechanic check it over before purchasing? How should payment be arranged? The sale would probably be agreed upon on a weekend so it wouldn't be able to be mechanically checked until a few days after the fact and I'm looking at buying in Brisbane...
