Have you checked with your insurance provider for doctors in network? That would give you a good place to start. If the provider doesn't have a list, your benefits manager should. I've never had an issue getting a new doctor, and never had to fill out a survey and wait 48 hours. I just started seeing a new GP last June. Dr. Grayce Arnold in Honewood. Mayfair Medical, I believe.

I'd always heard great things about Dr. Ricketts, so a couple of years ago I thought I'd give him a try. Called & got an appt. only to show up & be told that he wasn't accepting any more patients, but one of his "associates" would be glad to see me. I think the little "associate" was fresh out of school & his residency. He seemed pretty nervous & not too sure of himself. I was nice and polite with him, but I never went back again. Ricketts' office was new & ultra modern, but not the cleanest. The receptionists were unfriendly & never made eye contact, I was not impressed. Not surprised at all to hear he's long gone.

I like Dr. Patel at BHC Pelham. Right across from the Publix at the tank farm exit. There's also an urgent care doctor there later in the evening and on Saturdays in case you need to see a doctor when she's not available. I really like that option as it keeps me from having to go to the doc-in-the-box if I get sick on the weekend, and my primary dr will still have all of my records since it's part of the same office.

As far as I know, no waiting list for new patients, and no matter what he gets you in quick. takes al kinds of insurance too. I called one morning at 11 (that was as early as I could get my sick butt outta bed) and they got me in at 1 on the same day!! I was with Dr Turner for several years, but having to put off everything else for the whole day got to be irritating. Going in for a 7:45 rpm appt and still be waiting 4 hours.later was a bit much. Now I use Dr. Price in Clanton and my wait time is rarely more th an 15 minutes.

Dr Trey Lott in Hoover is an MD,DC. When you see him, it goes through your insurance. He's very good. I had not been able to walk for four months, doctors didn't think I would, but he got me walking. If your neck is really bad, Dr Mark Myers in Hueytown is excellent. He is trained in necks, an additional 4 years of school. He was in auto accident, never thought he would come back, he did and went to school.

I go to Cynthis Walters...she is an excellent Internist...Dr. Snyder?..Is a GP...I know he's good for colds and flu...My bro-in-law had significant symptom,s of Alzeimers...it took Dr Snyder a verrrry long time to refer him to a Neurologist...meanwhile the Alz was getting worse and worse...I am sorry to say...I cannot trust him for the important issues that start arise in our older age...Dr Walters is here in the Diagnostic Center in Alabaster....I was a nurse myself for 30 yrs...Walters IMO is a good choice..
