Monterey Shoe Repair on Eubank has been the best place, in my opinion. They have fixed several of my leather boots (I'm not nice to my boots at all), two leather jackets, and a leather belt. Always beautiful work. I'm not sure what your cost range is, but I always thought their prices were reasonable.

Seconding Robledos. I have small calves so I bought a pair of "extra narrow" boots online - no returns allowed. They arrived and I could not even come close to being able to ram my foot and calf into them. Robledo cut them open down the back, installed a strip of leather to extend the calf, and put a zipper in. It was an incredibly complicated repair and he did a great job. He makes a lot of custom leather seats and saddles and stuff too. I absolutely detest Nob Hill Shoe Repair. The last time I went in there, the two people "working" there (it seemed like a man and his wife) were just shockingly rude, like they could not believe I had the gall to walk in and interrupt their TV watching and bickering. I got halfway through trying to explain the problem with my shoes and just decided to take my business somewhere else.

There is one in Rio Rancho by the Namaste restaurant. I think it's called Rio Rancho Shoe and Boot repair or something original like that. Personally I would have found a way to work the word cobbler into the name My mom has used them and is always happy with their work.
