Properly made gaming chairs are way more ergonomically engineered than any office chair. I don’t know why? It doesn’t really make sense. If you want to invest in a high quality chair, SecretLabs has great chairs but they are not cheap by any means ($539 CAD).

wirecutter.com has good desk chair recommendations at multiple price points. I think their IKEA suggestion isn’t too much over $150, but I don’t remember offhand.

If you're not looking/ not able to drop that kind of money right now (good chairs are typically pricy), get a seat and back cushions made for cars. They cost me like $30 each and have helped me a lot. I also have an air filled cushion that I use occasionally that basically forces me to make continuous micro movements to balance and helps on days I'm at my desk all day. I also agree with another comment; a book stand was a game changer.

Go to Craigslist and get an Aeron or a Steelcase chair. You can get them for 1/4 th of retail, you will save your back, and they last forever. Lots of businesses are liquidating now, so there are just warehouses stacked with great used office chairs.

You might look into gaming chairs online. They have high backs and great lumbar support. I spend most of my waking hours in my gaming chair and I swear it has saved my lower back.
