IF it is still possible, attempt to settle with your creditor directly. Ask if they are willing to work with you on creating an easier payment plan that works with you AND that can pay off the entire balance rather than a reduced one. With a lawyer, you will ultimately end up paying about the same of what you owed or more due to fees and things of the like. You should only take this avenue if you can't find an agreement with the creditor. Also, your credit will tank like crazy
