I got a reckless driving ticket in VA for 73/45. Can anyone recommend a lawyer that wont cost an arm and a leg? Also any suggestions from experience?

Not reading all these comments so since I've gone through this here's what I suggest; just remember each case is different and results do vary. Reckless Driving is a Misdemeanor offense; fight it. 1. Drivers' Improvement/Reckless Driving course. It'll cost you about $150 if I remember correctly for both courses. First is a 8 hr course the 2 nd is a 4 hr course. You'll have to take the classes in VA as that's the only place that has the reckless class with it and you need the DI class prior to the RD class. 2. Get a lawyer; you can always get a public defender but the sooner the better so they can get all your info etc 3. Speedometer calibration; may or may not help but doesn't hurt (~100) 4. Max Punishment ranges from 1 yr jail/$5,000 fine and/or both. You need to go to court for it; also comes with 6 pts. 5. Try to see if your lawyer can work out a deal for a lesser charge and plead out to it; if not you want to be prepared if you can't get a deal see if you can avoid the points at least (I couldn't get a deal but I have no points; but it is on my driving record). Best of luck. Again it's all dependent on the judge at the time really, each case is different. Your driving history, police encounter, judge, location, preparations; all can change the outcome for better or worse.
