Shawnee dental in Carbondale takes medical card. Braces not in southern Illinois but they do in Olney Illinois, Cairo or Chicago. My son was 16 took him to Olney but they wouldn't take him because he was 16. Could have taken him to Cairo but the waiting list was to long. Good luck!

I have braces through Dr. Whip and not everyone can afford to shit out 7 grand for braces. By no means do me or my mother live off the government but if there was any issue with Medicaid being involved they wouldn't pay for it in the first place. Not everyone is born with perfect teeth and I'm sure you like to feel beautiful just as much as the next person. Don't be so quick to judge.

Dr Baker does in Carbondale as long a there under 14 yrs old. Don't know bout an ortho!

You have to pass a test given by Dr Whip before the medical card pays. Their teeth have to meet a certain # of issues, 36 I think. My daughter only scored a 28. You see him, he evaluates and in 6 weeks you get a letter from medical card w the scores and if you're approved or not.

You just have to get in within the year so she can start school without it. My daughter has gotten dental care at the school through Miles of Smiles because we had the same issue. Shawnee Dental by the mall in Marion takes the medical card if you want to try that route.

Rea clinic is the only one in this area that I know of that takes medical, but I am not sure it they do exams. I think your best bet to to look towards Marion or Mt. Vernon for one.

You can sign a dental waiver at the school and get her an exam later If you need one sooner than Dental Safari would give (I think that's in the Spring), Aspen Dental charges $19.00 for a new patient exam. The medical card has a ridiculous wait time for dentists!
