We had a couple that were good friends of ours...he was a doctor, she was a home maker. They used the same accountant for almost 20 years....then he just vanished...within a year our friends found out the accountant had NOT been filing returns for the last 8 years, and hadn't been paying their taxes. The guy was gone, the money was gone, and our friends lost their home and most of their retirement. Check with the IRS and make sure your guy has been reporting and paying.

Unless you’re super rich or are doing a lot of itemizing, just use TurboTax or something similar and get your standard deduction. Best advice I can offer. I don’t know many CPAs, but I did use one up in Indy one year.

Helpful tip: I'm super competitive with my brother who does his taxes himself. I thought, if he can do it, I can, too. If you don't have a bunch of lengthy deductions, take a look at the last few tax years and go through, taking your time, and do it yourself. It saves a shitload in prep fees.
