You might be on the hook for "mitigation expenses," finding a new tentant, adveritising, etc, if indeed they exist. They definitely can't get double paid, since they cured their loss by finding a new tenant. You might not be responsible for any expenses if you had a legally acceptable reason for terminating...such as the place wasn't habitable, the landlord was not meeting a basic duty, etc. If you go to CU, you may also want to check this out. http://ocss.colorado.edu/content/free-legal-advice-0
