I would recommend seeing Dr. Jessica at https://www.facebook.com/1675920422718263Physical Therapy Elite. She can assess your shoulder issues and recommend a great orthopedic surgeon if necessary OR even better, provide PT and avoid invasive surgery. X-Rays and MRI's all cost a lot of money and could potentially be avoided through a diagnosis by a DR. of Physical Therapy. http://www.pt-elite.com/
Julie S. replied:
Dr. O'Brian does shoulders I believe. I have found him to be the best in Bozeman for my knees and hip replacement.
Shea S. replied:
Have you considered conservative care like chiropractic for your shoulder pain? I am one of the chiros at https://www.facebook.com/39369123226Pro Chiropractic and we can evaluate your shoulder to determine what is going on. If necessary, we can take X-rays in office and order an MRI. 90% of shoulder injuries can be handled conservatively to avoid unnecessary surgery. Highly recommend Dr. Kelleher at Alpine! After a couple months of physical therapy with little progress, I got an MRI and scheduled surgery for my shoulder. He and his staff were beyond excellent. Made sure I understood everything about my injury, my options (both surgery and non-surgical options), and my path to full recovery.
Cyrina W. replied:
Had a horrible experience at Alpine. After 8 years of being told I was faking my pain went to Dr. Farrell a bridge Orthopedics come to find out had a torn rotator cuff, torn bicep, torn ligaments and bone spurs. Doctors at Alpine failed to see this in the MRI.

The main two orthopedic offices in Bozeman are Bridger Orthopedics and Alpine Orthopedics. I prefer Bridger and would recommend Dr. LeGrand for knees, although I didn't need surgery on mine. I only needed PT. Bridger is affiliated with Freestone Physical Therapy, which I would also recommend. I've been happy with Bozeman Deaconess, where I've two surgeries, but some outpatient surgeries are done at Rocky Mountain Surgical Center, which I've also been happy with. They're across the street from the hospital and downstairs in the same complex as Bridger Orthopedics. Good luck. I hope it goes well for you.

Try a Naturopath, it might not be an orthopedic problem. They found a food intolerance and when I gave it up all my joint pain left. Dr. Butler at Spring Integrative Healthcare is fabulous, well all three doctors in that practice are outstanding. Haven't felt this good in years!

Dr Diebert is amazing... 3 surgeries.. 2 for me, one for my son. Try Chiropractic too Dr Gary Guest can help too... very smart and helpful.

Linda B. replied:
I've been to Bridger for tennis elbow and thought they were great! Saw a dr at Alpine for my back, and he kept me waiting 45 min and I was out in 15 min with no solution. He referred me to an acupuncturist, didn't even write the name down, just told me to find him in the phone book, that his place of business was up the street. My son saw Dr Legrand at Bridger for his shoulder and he did surgery 1 yr ago and he's doing great! I'd go to Bridger again over Alpine!
Rachel M. replied:

Dr. Matthew Kopplin in Billings. I had both my knee's replaced at the same time. He and his team were fabulous. Good luck.

Have you tried physical therapy first? Often times doctors will suggest a more conservative path first which is also a less expensive route. The physical therapists at Advanced Performance and Rehabilitation Services are fabulous!
Terri H. replied:
I have been seeing Dr. Blake for my shoulder, I met him about a year ago. I highly recommend him and trust he is guiding me in the right direction with me torn rotator cuff. He's with Bridger Orthopedic.
April W. replied:
I would agree with Dacey Jedlicka have you tried a more natural route first? I would recommend Dr. Wilhelm at Pro Chiropractic....he specializes in extremity care as well.....and works closely with a massage therapist and a great pt Jill Sippos......on another note if your not interested in that route, we have used Dr Deibert (sp?) at Alpine Ortho. Good luck!

Dr Robinson is amazing. He did some surgery on my ankle two years ago now that changed my life. And he was so pumped about his work, I like him a LOT.
Marty V. replied:
Go to Bozeman Foot and Ankle. Do not go to Dr. Clark. Clark was rude to me and laughed at me when I told him I reacted to the cortisone shot. The only ones that could help me with my plantar fasciitis was the doctors at Bozeman Foot and Ankle.
Kimberly M. replied:
Big Sky Foot and Ankle. Dr Greene and Dr Judd are both amazing. They always put their patients first. Very highly recommended.
Karen C. replied:
Dr.Andrade HANDS down! He is a perfectionist and passionate about his field. He did my foot reconstruction. He is top notch and conservative. He treats you like his own family. member. I have had 100% recovery. He is doing my 16 yr old daughters ankle surgery this week. You will not be disappointed.
Sarah B. replied:
Robinson. Dr. Clark was able to help, but it didn't last and his custom made orthotics were not great. I have had no pain since working with Robinson and getting orthotics through him and Treasure State.

Donna T. replied:
Dr. Ebert.
Renee S. replied:
Dr Storm at Bozeman He is amazing, does not push surgery!
Jackie E. replied:
Dr. Clark! We took our daughter to him and he was great with explaining everything. He gave us several options/recomendations and said he would not suggest surgery for her. Definatly something to check out. You could also call the office and ask about pricing and payment plans. They are amazing there!
Halie F. replied:
I've been working with Dr. Storm at Bozeman Foot & Ankle for YEARS! He is wonderful and knowledgable practitioner. They accept insurance, and is willing to explore several options before jumping to surgery, or if surgery is your preference; then he will run you through those options as well. I highly recommend him! I did not have a good experience with Dr. Clark. I would recommend steering clear of him. Best of luck! (As for insurance, I handle this for a job. You can request that your insurance allow one of these providers to be billed as 'in-network' because you cannot find a single one in your area that is currently in-network with your company. Sometimes they will make that acceptation and let you 'appeal' due to lack of options.)
Maureen E. replied:

I had an extensive and devastating acute knee injury that included complete PCL rupture, ACL strain, meniscus tears, capsule rupture, and calf muscle tears. Dr. LeGrand at Bridger Orthopedic was awesome (I went to him for a previous shoulder surgery too). And I second Lone Peak PT. They have multiple locations. I'm not sure where you're located, but I'm in Bozeman and Josh Greene at the Belgrade location was worth the drive out to see for recovery from my knee surgery. Feel free to PM if you have any further questions!

Dr Josh Klatt at Bridger Orthopedics fixed my boyfriend's broken femur in December. (Spiral fracture just above the knee while skiing over Christmas; he's 51 and extremely active - like training for triathlons and a 1/2 Iron Man active.) Klatt is great - very positive and encouraging and does a great job answering questions and listening. He did a great job with the surgery and followups!

Dr.Klatt is beyond wonderful, we have seen him for our daughter with pediatric stuff. Dr.LeGrand did a wonderful job on my husband's knee, (he is mid thirties and super active), but stay far far far away from Dr.Gelbke. (All at Bridger).

Not sure if he dose knees surgery but Dr Ferrell at Bridger Orthopedic!! 8 years I was in pain with my shoulder and told I was faking my pain doctor after doctor, PT after PT, MRI after MRI and was finally sent to DR Ferrell, he did one more MRI with contrast and found torn rotator cuff, torn bicep, torn ligaments and bone spurs, year after surgery and do much better. The after care was amazing as well!! I was in my 20 s when I hurt my shoulder and 30 s with the surgery was done.

It got so bad it is couldn't sleep without dislocating it. Finally I made an appointment with Jason Lawn and Dr LeGrand at Bridger orthopedics. I needed a rare surgery called a later jet. There are only a few surgeons in the nation capable of this surgery. Dr LeGrand changed my life my surgery was a year ago and I'm been able to do normal things again:) He does do knees and they treated me like a friend and like they really cared about me improving!

My husband saw Dr LaGrande for a broken clavicle and we weren't to happy with his care. He barely spent any time with him, mostly just saw his PA. Didn't really explain things very well with the surgery and the physical therapy afterwards. Said he would be back to work within a few weeks but it ended up taking almost 6 months before he was back to work. Poor communication on his part. Just our experience with him.
