I have no idea. Esse is vegan certified as well. My problem is that apart from cruelty free and vegan, my products also need to be paraben, synthetic fragrance and alcohol free, organic as far as possible and sulphate free. You can understand why I don 't buy body, skin and hair care products from clicks or woolworths. And Esse's stuff covers all those basis. As well as VG which covers some of our less expensive things. And then there is Earthsap that just states they don't test or contain animal products. There are a lot of companies that don't got through the trouble of getting BWC endorsed, and this baffles me. A company like Esse for example, has no problem getting organic and fair trade certified. Those things cost money. BWC is free. Which is why I would love to understand why they would not get endorsed. Have you denied them previously? I also have an ethical problem with Body Shop being endorsed. I understand the argument that they are just owned by L'Oreal and their products are BWC, but it is an ethical problem for me. All these things are things that have not yet been cleared up.

Nadya, as you know BWC's humane criteria specifically focus on the animal testing issue and vegan, organic, alcohol free etc. are bonuses. However, we do have a couple of products on our list that are so fresh and free from nasties that they are only m ade to order! BWC does not endorse companies that belong to unacceptable parent companies (Body Shop/L'Oreal). Earthsap told a member in 2013 that they stand by their claims and it's not important to go to the extra expense of endorsements! BWC does not charge a cent for endorsement; it's completely free! We would be interested in seeing any responses you may receive from companies that you may approach for clarification of their claims.
