Yes, Carter & Sons' Auto Service. They are located on Dorchester Road in N. Charleston, but you can get there in 5 minutes from West Ashley. The address is 4032 Dorchester Road, and their phone number is 554-7005. A family business that is both reliable and trustworthy, they have been serving the Charleston area for over 30 years. Byrd's Automotive in West Ashley. My family has been going to Max for years, and I trust him completely. Last time I went to him, I had to get my car towed in. The first wrecker I called flaked out, and Max actually coordinated the tow for me because I was at work. Stand up guy.

The best place I've been to is Bryson's on Maybank Hwy on James Island. In my experience they've done a lot of complementary diagnostics. Heck, when my car wouldn't start in my driveway (less than a mile a way from their store) they sent a guy over to replace some missing clutch fluid so I could bring it to their shop, no charge. Also they've done some minor welding for no charge. They're honest and all around good guys with good service. I highly recommend them!

If you're a Honda owner, I recommend the service department at Stokes Honda in North Charleston. I've used them since I've lived here, for 15 years. Long ago, I brought them my Accord, complaining of a rear end noise when I went over bumps. They spent some time looking at the rear suspension, only to find that there was a ball bouncing around in my trunk. They could've taken me for a ride at that point, told me they were replacing the rear flaminator for $800 or something, but they only charged me a few bucks for the time spent diagnosing the problem and didn't even make fun of me for being such a dope.
