Iso of a great children's dentist to take my 2 yr old here in Columbia? Any to stay away from?
Debbie B. replied:
Dr. Thomas Hoffman has been our dentist for many years. When our girls were little, he would kneel to their level and talk to them. He was careful to use words like "sugar fairies kissed you" instead if cavities when they were little. He was and is a ln amazing dentist who cares about each patient. Iland, if you appointment is at 10, you normally see him at 10 or within minutes. I have never had to wait.
Scott M. replied:
Dr Rick Singh at Wild Smiles is awesome
Michele M. replied:
Love Wild Smiles, White Knoll
Charles P. replied:
I miss Dr. Sunshine.
Tina O. replied:
FYI - I tried South Lake Family Dentistry because they were "in network." Personally, my mouth never hurt so bad after a cleaning. My 5 year old at the time barely let them do anything. I couldn't believe Wild Smiles was so different. She is now 6 and gets excited about her dentist appointment. They actually go my 3 year old to relax in the chair which was amazing.
Helen C. replied:
Stay away. Far away from kool smiles. Best dentist ever is Alexis Collins on St. Andrews. U won't be disappointed.
Amy E. replied:
Wild Smiles is good but expensive, when we went 5 yrs ago. We still can't find a good dentist in the area, good luck!!
Danielle D. replied:
Wild smiles hands down. Only been to the one in Lexington. But its worth the drive
Holly S. replied:
We love Wild Smiles.

Robin D. replied:
Dr. Alexis Collins is who we refer to for all of our little patients.

My only advice is that I didn't find anything special at a pediatric dentist that my dentist (who I've gone to since I was 3) does. My kids feel special at Dr. Denny (Trenholm Rd), whereas they were just another child at the pediatric dentist (happen ...See More
Jenny O. replied:
Been going to Ellis, Green, and Jenkins since the girls were toddlers. Used to see Ellis but when Dr. Jenkins joined the practice we switched to him. They are all good. But he is the best one there!!!
Andrea D. replied:
Dr. Ellis, Sr. was my dentist growing up, Dr. Amy Green was Kenny's dentist until Dr. Jenkins joined the practice, now we use him and like him lots.

Nothing in Columbia County, but Badger Care does have a dentist person who can direct you. Just call, tell them your issue, and they will give you her number.
I need 2 things from my FB peeps... 1) really good can't-put-it-down book suggestions. No sci fi or trashy reads. A good bio? Last really great book I read was The Help....
Laura L. replied:
The Rosie Project- awesome book
Wendy H. replied:
I second Dr. Amy Green. My girls love all the princess stuff in her rooms... well worth drive four times a year.
Kelly D. replied:
Marvin Chernoff's new book is a fun and quick read and good insight into some legendary PR campaigns in SC. And we love Dr Beth Wylie Poag and Dr. Felicia Goins at Carolina Children's Dentistry!
Mary B. replied:
Carolina Children's Dentistry is wonderful but they're not downtown. May be worth the drive (just off 1-20 at the Two Notch Rd exit) for a couple of years. Great murals on the walls, great staff, & 2 wonderful Dentists!
Mary B. replied:
I see someone else endorsed them too! Dr. Poag & Dr. Goins are great!
Lesley R. replied:
Can't help with DDS but I have read most of books recommended and they are all good choices but reading The Goldfinch now, almost finished. Best book I have read in years.
Keely Y. replied:
Echo the suggestions for Carolina Childrens dentistry. Saylor loves to go there and their staff is fabulous.

Patrick goes to my dentist and she and the hygienist that does the kids are great. Patrick loves going to the dentist. Dr. Mary Metropol and she's right behind the township.
Kali T. replied:
Amy Green is worth the drive, in my opinion!
Kelley T. replied:
I loved The Help as well. Water For Elephants (S Gruen), Someone Knows My Name (L Hill), and The Perfume Collector (K Tessaro) are all similar and great reads.
Can anyone recommend a pediatric dentist that you are happy with in Columbia or Spring Hill? Thanks!

Dr. Farrow! Amazing. Not one complaint ever and he involves the parents in his procedures unlike most pediatric dentist. Very cool/fun facility as well;-)
