Hey remember you are doing the right thing by asking for help. Everyone should have a therapist to talk things through just like everyone should have a dentist. I always recommend talking to your general practitioner they can prescribe meds for you and direct you to a therapist they trust for you. If you feel like that isn't an option or if money is an issue then take a look at betterhelp.com that's were I talk things through with my therapist. If you want something in person I would suggest associated counseling professionals in omaha but I have mixed reviews about them.

Check if your employer has an agreement with any local places. For example, my employer pays for 3 visits/year with Arbor Family Counseling. I can then continue on my own dime if I need.

What kind of insurance you have? Personally I go to Jen Kelly at Think Whole Person Healthcare (~72 nd and Center) ... otherwise the CHI on Harmony and Broadway (I think?) in Council Bluffs is pretty good too! And if you don’t have insurance, One World is decent for a start. I wouldn’t recommend them for long term though.

They were pretty quick to get me with someone and easy to deal with compared to other cost sensitive places I reached out to like one world who had a very long wait list. They do sliding scale payment so depending on your income they will work with you financially and it is a very fair scale I would say. I have been using Lutheran Family Services. My particular therapist, Jill, is in Bellevue I believe.

I’d recommend Alexa Theisen with Omaha Psychotherapy. She’s seriously awesome, and really helped me through some shit in my life.

Dave Clark at family enrichment. Helped me tremendously a few years ago. Helped me develop ways to deal with my anxiety myself. I haven’t been to him in a couple years now but am thinking of starting back up because my anxiety has been through the roof lately.

If you have insurance, I would recommend either Omaha Integrative Care, Great Oaks Counseling, or Counseling Connections. The Methodist Community Counseling program is a great low cost option. Counseling Connections has people you can talk to about medication if it gets to that point.

Contact CHI Immanuel Psychiatric Offices. I've worked with a couple of their therapists and they have all been amazing. I've made some pretty major breakthroughs that I havent been able to make with others. John Duggins is the one I'm currently seeing.

Talk to at least 3 therapists in hopes to find the right fit. There will be ones that do not click with you at all or are like talking to a wall.

I recommend Kendra McCallie. She mixes talk therapy with body-focused awareness. While body-based work is typically used to treat trauma patients, it can also help with anxiety and depression (in my case). It’s surprising how much paying attention to the body can really help sort though a lot of stuff.

I've been in and out of therapy for a long time in the Omaha area, and the advice here covers everything I'd want to say. I just had a bad episode myself, so I thought I'd relate it and perhaps it'd be useful to you or others who may not know what to expect. I'll keep my details to a minimum as they're only to illustrate how the system around me functioned. This is just a potentially useful anecdote. ​ In the middle of last year I was on a modest dose of a fairly mild antidepressant. I have no insurance and functionally zero income so my GP of many years tried to keep my bills low. I'd been to therapy before (first ever was private practice via EAP pre-millenium, then LuthFS, at least one other private practice) but had not gone in the last five years. I'd recently had blood work done and tracked down other minor unrelated health issues. ​ I reached a point of crisis in early September where I knew it was time to pull the alarm. Three days later I was in my GP's office. They doubled the strength of my existing medication and added another at a moderate dose. This helped get the immediate situation under control. A list of low cost mental health providers was provided, and an appointment was scheduled at One World. My first visit there was with a GP, and they immediately set me up on a telesession with their mental health department. I left that appointment having made another for the GP and a first appointment at their mental health facility. ​ Discussing cost with the receptionist it seemed likely that I'd qualify for fee reduction, so they held the fee and gave me the paperwork to take home. The next visit I submitted the paperwork and I'd qualified for 'Region 6'. This is renewed annually and has covered everything in my dealings with One World except prescription drugs. Mine are collectively $20/mo for both. ​ Visits with the GP continued for unrelated matters, and the meds seemed to work well so they were maintained. Appointments began with a licensed counselor from One World's behavioural health department. The first three were within two weeks, then over time as things improved they spaced out to once a month. ​ I'd have to check records to see when the last therapy appointment was, but I think it was mid-January. I realized that I'd stabilized and felt that with the emergency over I was ready to make room for others with more pressing emergencies. We talked it over and agreed to one more final appointment. With that completed I was contacted later only for a survey, which I was glad to help with. ​ Internally my change over this time was stunning. I was fortunate to find a medication that's worked better than any other for me, and by chance alone. There really has been a relearning of some basics, and molting some deeply ingrained bad habits. I'm not sure I've ever been out from under this weight in my adult life, but if I have I couldn't tell you when. I tend to the cynical and get downright bitter when things are bad. Nobody's story ever really gave me strength, just an opportunity to find myself lacking by comparison. Now I know why the free bird sings. Being on the other side I feel duty bound by human solidarity to testify that there really is plenty of 'better' to go around.

Do you have EAP? I would start there it’s one of the benefits you have with your employer.

Generally anger stems from something else, such as anxiety. I think you'll find it will be best to find someone for her to speak with just her, and the family unit will be involved as needed for her own care plan. Horizon Therapy in the Omni center in CB is great. I would highly recommend Michaella. She is so sweet and works with kids.

Kanesville Therapy has a couple therapists on staff just for cildren..Bridgett Mass is Amazing..should be back in Dec..They do alot of play therapy and one on one..great people..♡♡
