Touche Touchet is pretty good. Not anything like NY bakeries though, but they do a good job. It's in the Atholoton Shopping Center on Shaker Drive in McGills Commons neighborhood.

Regarding The Candy Box in Catonsville: the original owners just opened a new shop on Frederick Rd http://catonsville.patch.com/articles/home-sweet-home-6 I have no idea if it will stock the same things you remember, but maybe? I know I was delighted when I walked in and they had some of the same candy I used to buy at my neighborhood candy shop in Erie, PA as a kid.

Bon Fresco in Columbia is a must-try. I am European - I know baguettes- and the bread at Bon Fresco is excellent, even better than Wegman's.

Depends on what you're looking for I guess Amy. For sweet stuff, I haven't been impressed. What I've found in the area just doesn't have the flavor I'm looking for. It's sweet and pretty, but nothing else. And I patronize The Breadery - boy if you want good sandwich or toasting bread, or good dinner rolls, they're great. But I'd kill for a really good loaf of Italian or rye bread.
