Just left last week we rented a car and drove. Saw it all. Not rushed I rented a car from Alamo rentals a dodge caravan for 6 days unlimited mileage for under $250. It was great. Hope you enjoy your trip. We spent over an hour at the Santa Clause House

We flew into Anchorage, rented a car and took two weeks to drive from there to Fairbanks with several incredible stops along the way - Hatcher Pass & the Independence Mine outside of Wasilla is incredible. Talkeetna is a great little mountain town. Denali, of course, should not be missed. Check out the sled dog demonstration - your kids will love it. We hit trails around North Pole and checked out the pipeline. There's a great visitor center in Fairbanks worth popping by. Lots of neat trail heads on the road to Chena Hot Springs which is definitely worth a visit. The Santa House is fun and a little campy. Know you don't have time but the Kenai Peninsula is incredibly; Homer and Seward are great little towns; to see Glaciers check out Whittier and take a Glacier Boat tour, it will nudge right next to incredible glaciers. The Aleyeska Mountain resort - about 30 miles from Anchorage - has a great gondola ride that will take you up the mountains and you can see five glaciers on a clear day.
