Geraldine, my daughter lived on Duanne when the tornado hit. The Red Cross which was behind her house, the roof blew over on their roof and made a huge hole in their roof, the rain made the ceilings fall and ruined her furniture. The Essary's owned the home . My daughter and her family lived with us for ten months and bought a home off of S.40 th.

Hercules Camp in Hattiesburg closed approx. 1950. If you drive past Hercules on Hwy 42 - look maybe 200 feet inside the fence and you will see a small ridge of land. It's most noticeable from about where you turn to go to Glendale. All along that area there was a street with houses. Hercules employees lived in those houses. I'm not sure about how many houses but I would guess 15-20 or so.
