Although pit bulls are no longer deemed "vicious" by Ohio law, it still varies city by city. Same goes for insurance which also can vary agent by agent. You will have to do a bit of independent research to determine which insurance agency will work for you and your pet; make sure your personal liability limit is at least $100,000. I've been hearing good things about State Farm lately!

I use Hill and Hamilton insurance out of Bellefontaine. They are an independent agent and so they can shop around for you and see who will allow the dogs and who gives the best rates. When I first purchased Home Away From Home one company denied me because of breeds but after one year with no claims Hill and Hamilton went back to them for me and got them to insure me and it was at a lower rate. They review your policy yearly and they to find you better coverage. I like working with them so much at my business that I switched to them for all my private insurance as well. I had had state farm for 20 years and my husband had them for 35 so we were nervous about switching but I would do it 10 times over again. I never considered working with an independent agent but I am sure glad I switched. They are truly experts in the insurance industry. I also save 800 dollars a year and more than to doubled my coverage. I use Tony s my agent for personal and Matt and Tom Simon for business. Tom is the owner and would be very happy to help you out.
