Steph D. replied:
For that schedule I would definitely check out a summer nanny. Care.com is a good source, as well as asking around for friends' recs. You can probably find a college student or teacher who is looking for something a few days a week. There are also plenty of teachers around who watch kids at their own homes during the summer.
Hello, my Media loves! I've had a lot of luck asking questions here so I am going to ask another.

I would recommend Elwyn Development Center. I am a local speech therapist and special education advocate. I am also involved with The Arc of Delaware County. Feel free to Message me if you have questions or need support.
Laurie W. replied:
I believe Jackie is looking for a sitter, all the information listed here is useful for supports and therapies, but it may be difficult to find short notice sitter for 2 days a week. I have a 6 year old son with ASD and the only suggestions given to me from 'the pros' for specialty sitters is contacting 'care.com' for 'special needs' care, there is a fee but the person will come with referrals, etc.. You also may like to try yahoo groups to find support groups in your area. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Autism_In_The_Media/info . I am originally from Media but now live about 15 minutes away. Please send me a message in my private FB inbox if you would like further assistance or just want to connect with another autism parent. Good luck!
Susan S. replied:
For the sitter part, I have no experience with them but care.com advertises that they can meet a wide range of needs so it's possible that they would have somebody with the type of background/training you're looking for. And nice response about being a team.
Stacey J. replied:
Quick FB question...do all post on this page come up in order? I was just reading a post about a mother looking for a babysitter for her Autistic daughter...the thread was rather long (and went off for a period on a grammer tangent) but now I can't find it. The reason I ask or in case she was reading this post, I did a little research on Care.com (I have found my last 3 sitters there and each has been better than the last) and I searched the words "autism" and "autistic" and found quite a few (57) available sitters within 10 miles of Media...it may be worth looking into.
Susan S. replied:
Stacey Summers Joyce yes all responses should appear in order, oldest at the top, and yes sometimes threads get hijacked but hopefully get back on track if they are important, as this one did:)

If you are working in Kennett, you pass Goddard in Chadds Ford. It’s just a block down 202 from 1. My daughter has been there almost 5 years, starting at 13 weeks. Give them a look-see. You can do part time there as well after the child is a year old. Not sure the wait list duration? Also try Media Children’s House in Aston. I hear good things about there.

Childcare: I highly recommend the Development Center at Elwyn. When my girls were that age (they're 6 and 8 now), I toured a few daycares, and they all seemed like baby prisons. The Development Center is very interactive and they focus on developmental milestones much more than other places that I looked. This is nerve-wracking, so I wish you luck!
