I would like to add to my comment about Dr. Pollei--he was the third orthodontist that we consulted with. All 3 had different treatment recommendations, and the other two were pretty aggressive with pulling teeth, clipping tissue, etc. We chose Pollei because he took a wait and see approach until work was really necessary, and there was no pulling or clipping needed. Plus we just like him.

Dr Bartley Benton in Mount Juliet did a great job with Heather and Britney he has a loving staff and a beautiful office when I was searching for an orthodontist I found they all cost just about the same I think it was about 4500 dollars insurance paid 1500 and then they let us make payments 100 a month

0 Dr Benson made Heather a retainer it was like 250 and the insurance paid some on it

Oxford and Witherow are both great, Witherow is more crowed and busy most times though-a slower pace with longer one on one at Oxford. We have been to both.

We go to Dr. Pollei. I have never been more impressed with a doctor or staff. Every person is so nice and helpful. Our initial free consultation was amazing - I've never had a medical professional sit down with me so long and so thoroughly explain and answer questions. I recommend him to everyone!

Dr. Witherow and his staff have been great. He's been very conservative with treatment which is something we wanted. His staff has worked with us, and been very patient while doing so, to get all of the billing in order. He and the RDA's have been great with my child.

Dr. Benson…like getting your teeth cared for in a spa. They do free consultations, bake cookies, have the best staff etc, etc. All of our kids go there plus me. Braces are coming this summer!

Ouch. We love Benson Orthodontics. They have offices in Mt. Juliet and Lebanon. Though, I'm not sure if anyone would actually do a drop-in service without you already being a client. My daughter's upper wire seems to slip often, thus poking her in the cheek (in her case its not the ortho's fault, she apparently just chews in a peculiar way that lead to it slipping). It ALWAYS seems to happen over a weekend so she's stuck with it poking her for days. Tons of wax layered on it, or a bit of an eraser stuck to it can both help get her through if you can't find someone to get her in quicker than Monday.

I am a dental assistant here are my thoughts. Have you tried calling the office and using the prompts to get to their after hours line? That is what I would do first. Second, I would do as suggested by others and clip the wire if you can. Use one finger as a guide and the pull the cheek out of the way. I did my internship for Dr. Robinson. He is an amazing orthodontist. He is a great guy! Not sure what happened when you were there but from what I know of him I honestly do not think that he would do something like this on purpose or leave something like that on purpose. I do know that he bought or took over Dr. Ralph Grants practice so he is a newer Orthodontist in the area and he may possibly be going through training with staff, but I will tell you that he has a part in what I know today and he was wry through and taught me with excellence and once that staff member is trained she should be amazing! If you can't get in contact with the office and cutting the wire and using wax doesn't work then I would suggest Dr. Pollei or Dr. Witherow.
