Monday night at dba at 7 pm John Boutte, best voice in town (the treme theme for the tv show is his), Tuesday night at Maple Leaf for Rebirth Brass Band, it starts at 11 pm, maybe a bit late, but great gig. If they are here on Sunday, definitely take them to a Second Line... Preservation Hall, any night at 8 pm, long line but worth the wait (just get there early, and wait with a hurricane from Pats OBrian, next to it)... Or one night at the piano bar at Pats while getting the hurricane always fun... Have fun!!!!

I just moved from Brooklyn, New York. Honestly, it doesn't need to be fancy to impress us, we just appreciate quality food and mostly food that we don't get to enjoy in NYC. I've enjoyed Ruby Slipper on Magazine Street, Lily's Vietnemese (great Pho and friendly service), Mother's in the CBD. Still looking for a great Creole place.

Any Donald Link restaurant (Cochon, Herbsaint, Peche), Coquette, Lilette, le Petite Grocery, get a drink at Hot tin roof for a great view (top of Pontchartrain hotel) or at Delachaise on the patio. Go eat shrimp outside at the lake or at Station 6. In the Quarter - Bayona or Sylvain - and get a snoball if Hansens is still open

If it's a Tuesday, the Jacque-Imo's/Maple Leaf combo is great. Rebirth Brass Band plays on Maple Leaf on Tuesdays. Otherwise Snug Harbor is a great place to get some "New Orleans" food and see good music in one venue.
Looking for a good psychiatrist Looking for a psychiatrist in the uptown/downtown area that takes insurance plans or is affordable. Any help is appreciated.

There's the [LSU Behavioral Sciences Center](http://www.lsuhn.com/services/Behavioral-Science-Clinic) behind Touro. You'll be seen by an LSU resident. Very affordable and they take most insurance plans. [Contact info here](http://www.lsuhn.com/locations/Uptown---Behavioral-Science-Clinic).

Leslie Lawrence was recommended to me by a very competent therapist. Don't know anything else, but check her (him?) out. Good psychiatrists are HARD to find!
Hippo-Crates replied:
Are you looking for a psychiatrist, which is a medical doctor that will mostly prescribe medicine, or a psychologist, which is a phd/psyd doctor that will do therapy (and can also prescribe some meds in LA if they have some special degrees)?

dr. jason wuttke uptown on jackson and st. charles. he's a pretty young guy (35 or so) and is really easy to talk to and he definitely knows his shit inside and out. check him out. he would definitely be a redditor if he knew what it was. cheers.

Holy crap. I was recently diagnosed with anxiety as well, and was considering making a post about this just a few minutes ago. Almost everyone I've called seems to be unable to take new patients, or the next available appointment isn't for another 1-3 months. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Richard Roniger for about a month from now, he's also on Jackson and St Charles. No idea what to expect.

Have you tried [St. John's Wort](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._John%27 s_Wort)? It's helped me with my anxiety a little over the past couple of months. You can find a bottle of 100 supplements (recommended dosage is 3/a day, lasts about a month) at Rouses for about $10.

Nancy Timms is great in st Charles and Jackson. Really hesitant to put on meds, and is wonderful
Anonymous replied:
You know all that will happen is they will stick you on meds that turn you into a robot, right? If you're ok with that then so am I. I was just wondering if you know. If it is general anxiety then a psychologist helps without the mind altering drugs.
so, cellulitis hurts. also, i need a veterinary psychiatrist to please contact me asap.

I'm going to disagree with Jessica Thomas above about Pelts associates being sub-par-- Dr. Jason Wuttke is in that practice and he is highly regarded.
Psychiatrist recommendations in NOLA A friend of mine named "me" is looking for a recommendation on a psychiatrist on the area. Any info welcome. Thanks.

My psychiatrist is Elaine Saleh (pronounces suh-lay). I dunno if this is important, but she works through Ochsner and accepts BCBS of LA. I really like her. She's a very pleasant person, and I always feel more relaxed after I go see her.

just sayin' do not ever go to Rafael F Salcedo in Gretna. Jesus christ, I was dealing with panic attacks and he literally gave me the come to jesus talk (i should accept god into my life) when I just wanted therapy for panic attacks. That was the worst.
If you need medication and don't have insurance or much money LSU Behavioral Science Center is a godsend. First visit I think is 50 and then 30 thereafter.
