You see your doctor and then if you walk-in when they are sick you see whoever is available, usually Dr. Behrstock, older guy who wear Berkenstocks. He travels a lot and he is the President of Greater Newport Physicians, so I don't think he has his own patient load. And if your really lucky you get Dr. Taylor ;) jk

Columbia Pediatrics next to Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach. They have Saturday hrs if your kid is sick. Always able to get my kid in same day if sick. All the doctors are good.

I tried Abelowitz and Michelis, I wasn't a fan of either of them. I won't go back to coastal kids after going 6 times now. I went to harbor pediatric twice. I'm also looking for a pediatrician! I'm thinking of the Dr. Sears office in south county. I know the two doctors above are super wonderful and super popular, but I feel that my last 3 experiences at coastal kids was a cattle call! I think they over book frequently, maybe they need a bigger office or more doctors, that's not a bad problem to have! But it felt like going to Target on a Saturday! Harbor pediatric is within walking distance, but I didn't care for Michelis approach. I went there twice as I mentioned to give it the old college try and just didn't feel like it was the right fit for us. I'll look up these doctors for myself too! Great post! Thank you!

Try ehealthinsurance.com I would recommend getting as high a deductible as you can afford and think of it as insurance not coverage. If your pediatrician is of the highest concern, call them and ask what insurance companies they accept. Then shop through those.

I prefer PPO. With Sophia she has needed to see several specialists and they just send her. There is no waiting for approval. They are very proactive. I highly recommend Dr. Bennett at Surf City Pediatrics in HB. She is amazing! !

Blue cross PPO or HMO are really good I've had them both. Medi-cal Cal-Optima Choc Health alliance is GREAT for all insurance I would go with CHOC I've had all my children there since day one. Since my little man Zachary had had all his medical "problems" they've been GREAT.

C goes to Coastal Kids in Ladera. We love it and have had a great experience in the NB office on the rare Saturday emergency. I don't know the NB that well, but we've always had great Nurse Practitioners.
