I wear asics gel nimbus and had a spout of plantar fasciitis recently, not fun! I recommend inserts and arch bandages too while running (amazon.com) along with a cortisone shot! Took care of the issue!

You don't have to get up super early to enjoy maybe 15 degrees give or take. But afternoons will get up to 30+, so you have to wait until dusk to have a pleasant run later. And Fleet Feet on J street is the place to buy running shoes here.

I buy my shoes through zappos.com. I'm a big guy too and it's tough to find something that works for me. They offer free shipping, I usually get them in a day or so and if they don't fit right I can send them back for free. Sometimes I order three or four pairs of shoes at once and I'll end up only keeping one pair!

New Balance are often recommended for wider feet. They have a store at The Fountains and will fit you to the right one for your needs but other places like Kohls also sells them.
