Dog or cat? We've used and loved St. Charles Veterinary Clinic since the late 70 s. Dr. Miles is our main. It's a huge practice though and it's not always easy to get in quickly if you want to see only one vet. My daughters, who have cats, just started using Loyal Companions. Dr. Petsche is great with timid animals and the facility is ideal for cats. I use their daycare and grooming for my dog.

Camp Ruff It in Carol Stream is amazing! It's open boarding and includes daycare so your dog isn't just going to be locked up in a cage all night! They even have a slumber party room which has a bed couches and a tv just like at home and a staff member stays overnight with the dogs and the boarding prices are extremely reasonable. My dog absolutely loves it there and seems upset when we are there to pick her up!

We used River Heights Veterinary Clinic in Oswego when my 8 year old cocker spaniel tore her ACL. Did a great job and I think it was closer to $2500.

VCA Animal Hospital in Aurora was amazing for our Lab. She was 7 or 8 at the time and had a TPLO. She was good as new and lived to a spry 15.

Dr. Wimmer at Hillcrest animal hospital. He did acl surgery for our great pyrenees about 3 years ago and it was only about 1200 and did a great job. A bit of a drive but it's worth it.

Unfortunately, from all my friends that have had this surgery done that sounds pretty accurate. I think most of my friends have used a specialist at Buffalo Grove Veterinary Hospital. I believe surgery can even go higher then that.

My Yorkie had a torn ACL 4 years ago. Surgery was about $1800. Obviously, a smaller dog. We went to Dr. Bongiorno, who is now retired. Now we see Dr. Jennifer Maloney Carroccio at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic in S. Elgin. Very happy!

WITHOUT QUESTION - Dr. Cook at Animal Medical Clinic of St. Charles. We had a dog slightly larger than yours have the exact same issue several years back and we were referred to Animal Medical Clinic. Top notch in every regard. Complete surgical success. You will not be disappointed.

Animal Care Clinic is South Elgin did our dog's for less than that - BUT, he was a senior citizen and not as active as a 4 year old would be. They did something called a "sling repair"

Definitely call fox valley animal welfare league in Aurora. It's a registered charity. The vet on staff there did a consultation with a co-worker of mine and would have done the ACL repair for less than half of what others were wanting to charge. Around $1,750. She did not do the surgery in the end because her dog is 8 and is managing quite well without the ACL. I know I manage without mine.

My sister works at Riverview vet clinic in Plainfield and she guestamates that it would be around 3200 with the initial x-ray and appointment. They use a tta-2 method which is newer and less invasive. Dr Marion is actually going to Switzerland this weekend to talk about the surgery. According to my sister this method has wonderful results.

I cannot recommend Dr. Long of Yorkville Animal Hospital highly enough. (He was a part-owner of Geneva Animal Hospital before they sold). He specializes in canine orthopedic surgeries. He's amazing.

Valley Animal Hospital did a great job with our girl. Dr Weichman did a good job! 3 years ago and she's still good. I should also mention this was on an 8 year old 65 pound yellow lab.

This article gives a pretty good general overview of them. "Shopping around" will not help if you aren't comparing apples to apples. We used Dr Cook at Valley Veterinary Surgery, and I was very pleased because he uses arthroscopy which reduced healing time (he doesn't have to cut through muscle). He does the tightrope procedure. However, if I had a large breed young dog I would probably choose the TPLO procedure at a specialty hospital.

We absolutely love Bartlett Animal Hospital. Won't go anywhere else. My dog had ACL surgery by Dr. Baker and I'm almost positive it was under $1,000. If not, it was within a couple hundred more. Dr. Baker and Dr. Nelson are the most amazing vets out there. They did get two new experienced vets there, but I haven't been to them yet and so cannot speak for them.

Not many people know of it because of how new it is and the location. Everything is done with a fear free approach and they are just great there. It's evident that they really care for each pet that comes in. I brought my kitten in for a bad infection that would have killed her if they hadn't taken her in for emergency surgery that day. She ended up staying for about a week after to recover and they provided me with updates daily and allowed me to stop by any time to see her. I can't imagine going through something like that with any other vet.

I had a cat many, many, years ago and had that done by a cheap vet. She was in terrible pain for days and her paws would bleed. Years later I learned it's best to keep the nails intact.

NO! The reason so many vet practices will not declaw is because it is cruel amputation that has terrible consequences. Consider Soft Paws nail caps, learn to clip their nails, and train your cat to use a scratching post.

Anderson Animal Shelter does a Low-cost Neuter (not sure about the de-claw).. but it is FOR LESS than any vets and the staff there was wonderful!

I agree with the pricing regarding St. Charles price but not the service. We love ST. vet clinic and Dr. Marten! We've referred many clients to her and they have been very happy.
