I'm meat and dairy free and fiercely against the dairy industry and consumption of milk based products.. ( it's just not natural! ) . My 4 month old bub is on the big side and not sleeping too well so I've been advised to consider baby rice. Any suggestions on if there is vegan baby rice? Also, thinking ahead.   Hi Millsey, I have posted for some support for you! My thoughts are around contacting your local ABA (Australian Breastfeeding Association) ABA has some fantastic resources (https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/) and guidance on returning to work, pumping etc. I found them a great support. Also, with our second son we looked into baby lead weaning and basically didn't do rice cereals. There are tons of resources available online and we found via our local ABA group and local library.   If you join ABA (www.breastfeeding.asn.au) you get a free book called "Breastfeeding Naturally". It will tell you everything you need to know. You can also think about accessing a Lactation Consultant before you have your bub that can give you specific info and support after your bub arrives. All the best. :)

  4. When I wanted to relactate with my first I was told by my lac consultant to start breast pumping every 2 or 3 hours to try and bring my supply back in. You can also get a supplement feeding system, where it stimulates your boobs while bub is feedin g but its the formula (just until you establish your milk) https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/.../using-breastfeeding... Theres also things that can help get your supply back like lactation cookies and medication but you would have to consult your doctor and ask about them.

  J- have you spoken to the Australian Breastfeeding Association? The helpline is free for anyone to call on 1800 Mum2Mum (1800 686 268). They have lots of information on low supply as well as knowing the various specialists in your local area (eg. If your baby hasn't been properly checked for tongue tie - even some lactation consultants can get this wrong). The website also has some good information, but the ladies on the helpline will go through your individual situation.

  hey honey... sorry to hear, how painful & frustrating! have you called the ABA? 1800686268. i think you're amazing for persisting, be kind to yourself! and i second using a pump til your nipples start healing, if you have time of course. and rite aid hydrogel breast discs are amazing! amelia was really hard to feed, lachlan so easy! they're all different, just do what's best for you xx take care!

  This website might help: https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/.../expressing-and... An extract: There are several techniques you can use to encourage your let-down reflex when expressing. For example: Consciously try to relax, using whatever method suits you. Try to express in a quiet, warm, relaxing area, away from distractions. While expressing, breathe slowly and deeply. You could express in the place you usually sit to feed. Some mothers have a warm drink first or listen to soft music. Warmth (expressing after a warm shower, warm face washers on the breast for a few minutes before starting) may also help. Gently massaging your breasts by stroking down towards the nipple, and gently rolling the nipple between your fingers. While you can't actually push the milk out of your breasts by massage, you can help trigger the let-down by touching your breasts.
