We're here at RAFL on our 7 th year. Relax, some things you don't need to stress about until you get here :) The driving test is done through in-processing and you'll be able to "practice" driving on base while you're still in TLF. This is a great assignment, SO much to do and see! Like Kim ^^ we live out a ways- about 45 minutes, but all of our kids go to British schools (our oldest graduated from Lakenheath High School though). Its been such a terrific experience for us all. There is no longer mandatory on base housing and I know the waiting list is long. You can search online for houses but it will be much easier to decide once you get here. All of the rental agencies will pick you up and take you to view the houses. We went through Baselets since they specialize in military housing. No fees and they were very helpful.
