Adam Fiore, Best to stop in person and watch what goes on there before you decide to sign up. They are pretty intense workouts and can really help people BUT make sure it is something you really are going to stick with because the prices at most Cross Fit gyms are a lot more then regular gym memberships, again just make sure you spend some time watching the classes..

I go to one in East Windsor, but have friends at Revelation who have said good things. They have an Instagram and Facebook page you can check out to get a feel for the gym, but if you're interested in the programming, Bob Roy is right - it's best to go in and talk to a coach. They can explain the process best.

What is the best gym membership deal for the new year?? My husband and I are looking for a gym to go to together.
We don’t like planet fitness. If you know the gym...
Eileen T. replied:
I go to Anytime Fitness in Granby. They have a "Join for $1" deal going on right now, and I have their Virtual Coaching membership ($40 per month and also $40 for the program I signed up with, so it's a total of $80 per month). They also offer group, semi-private, and private coaching as well (more expensive). The good thing about virtual coaching is I get to meet with my coach once a month in person and she sends me new workouts on the app, and I can text her on the app at any time with anything I might need help with. They also use MyFitnessPal to track your nutrition and they have a nutritionist that can work with you (but that's more expensive). They also offer nutrition classes at the gym that are included with your membership, along with fitness classes. Every few months they have fitness challenges you can sign up for if you're interested. It's a small gym, but it's usually not very crowded unless a class is going on (and even then, there's space for you to work out, but I suppose it also depends on the time of day). The staff are really nice as well.

Crossfit Invulnerable in East Windsor. Their hours are great. Membership is reasonably prices. I know some have comments about crossfit but unless you try it you do not know. It works all muscle groups. I am over 50 and feel great. My cholesterol is down. Oh yeah, one instructor there, Michelle, will do up meal plans to eat healthy. Try it!
Can anyone recommend a good gym to get a membership at? Had planet fitness, looking to try somewhere new. TIA :)

Left Planet Fitness for Club Fitness but never got comfortable there. Thought I'd take classes as well as use the machines and weights. Classes weren't convenient and I never got comfortable with the gym. So I rejoined PF. Looked at HealthTrax but too pricey for me.

Alicia, if you loved martial arts before, you will love it even more now! There is a wonderful population of adult students. We truly love each other. You won't regret trying it again. Introductory promo: 4 weeks for $49, includes uniform 860-763-2136

Club Fitness. A lot more equipment and weights, much bigger, more classes. Just no pool.
Debbie H. replied:
Health Trax also has the pool, but you pay for it, lol
Are there any Zumba classes in the area that are not apart of a gym membership?

Next fitness in Agawam!! Brand new gym has a little bit of everything. If your looking for a personal trainer I highly recommend https://www.facebook.com/1931977193714364 Davith Ou "Body by Davith" he knows how to motivate you and push you to your limits to reach your goals.
Eileen T. replied:
Anytime Fitness is great! I go to the one in Granby, but they also have locations in Agawam, Somers, Ellington, Manchester, and a bunch of other towns (unfortunately, they're not in Enfield yet). The trainers are really nice, and they offer nutrition, fitness, and yoga (and other stretching) classes. They also offer different memberships, everything from virtual coaching to semi-private coaching. You also get to meet with your trainer to discuss your goals, get new workouts, and see your progress. They also offer fitness challenges during the year- I'm currently doing one and I've lost about 7 pounds in 4 weeks just from tracking what I eat and going to classes.
Can anyone recommend a good, clean, affordable gym in the area (Enfield, Somers etc). I recently bought a year at Club Fitness but they dont believe in running their AC...
Brad M. replied:
Pros to PF=lower cost, more variety, no meatheads, not locked into contract. Now open 24 hrs mon-fri. Pros to club fitness = classes (for extra $). Child care (for extra $). Higher range of dumbbell weights. Less elderly patrons. Last I checked, healthtrax wa like $35-45 per person per month.
Judy C. replied:
Planet Fitness. We are older adults going to the gym for the first time and they were great to us.
Stephanie P. replied:
You'd think the extra money Club Fitness costs, they'd be able to make people comfortable.

I just want to start off by saying that I hate to leave a negative review but I think it needs to be viewed by others thinking of joining this gym and investing money into this business. I am a new customer at Club Fitness. New to a healthy lifestyle and the gym. I was rather excited to start a membership here with my friend. The first couple of months have been great minus the occasional machines out of order that you want to use and have to wait weeks for them to be fixed. However, yesterday I went in to workout and it was literally about 90 degrees in the building. I worked out for about an hour and was hydrated, but still started to feel dizzy and sick from the heat inside the building both up and downstairs. I looked around and you could see it all over peoples faces and the sweat dripping down the mens bodies. It was exhausting even being in there. When I was leaving I asked about the AC and the staff said "the owner doesnt want to pay for the bills yet". They wont turn it on until at least May 20. Wow! Is this how u run a business? I myself am a small business owner and trust me I understand on cutting costs, saving where you can and not wanting to have bills already for AC, but guess what? Thats what happens when u run a business. You accommodate the customers who are paying you to make your money and help run that business. I was also going to sign my fiance up but we are now looking at other places because it is just not healthy to be somewhere working out and overheating due to people being cheap. If running your air a week early or during a heat wave is going to alter your business then maybe you shoul re-evaluate. I am disappointed to hear this. Hopefully it turns on soon so we can give it another chance but if not you will be losing two customers and im sure quite a few more.... Here is to hoping this review gets some consideration. Thank you.

We go to Golds Gym in Windsor but we can go to Club Fitness in Enfield bc they are partnered. To make up for the lack of pool access at Healthtrax they have an arrangement with the Ramada in Windsor Locks on 75 to use theirs for free. I pay $250/year.
Cindy B. replied:
We pay just under $11/mo at Planet Fitness. There is a reg fee when you first sign up - like $60. But we have been members for years, so we may be on a grandfathered price. But I think it is still a ridiculously low monthly charge.

Also, I take Zumba three times a week if you're interested - Monday & Thursday at 6 PM over at Hazardville Memorial School. And Wednesday night at Release Fitness on Shaker Road at 5:45. All three classes are an hour long. The Thursday night class is Zumba tonining with 2 or 3 lb weights - you bring/your choice.

There is a groupon for club fitness where you can buy 25 classes for $69, which is a great deal considering drop in price is $10 per class. Also, Darly's Dance and Fitness studio on hazard ave has Zumba Monday-Wednesday 630-730 for $5 per class. I LOVE her classes!

Any recommendations for a low-key gym, primarily for treadmill time. Non-competitive, non judgemental preferred.

Definitely Planet Fitness
Angela H. replied:
Planet Fitness is really low key. Their cardio room is great if you’re just looking for treadmills/ellipticals without the banging and clanging of the weights.
