I love all the midwives at St Mary's that work with Dr. B. I ended up with Manola for my vbac and she was wonderful. Though I would have been happy with any of them.

We have several clients with Tricare at Lisa Ross (The Birth Center) although Tricare is a little complicated! Blair Hicks with Dr.Brabson is awesome she delivered my baby. She was in the room almost the whole time and was very encouraging. I also really liked Manola.

I would also agree that Blair Hicks is the best midwife in town. I've recommended her to other mothers and they have been so pleased with their experience

If you want a hospital delivery, the midwives with Dr. Brabson are the only ones in town. They are all skilled and knowledgeable and "click" with a certain group of people. I'd recommend that you meet them all so you can see which one is the best fit for you. If you're considering a birth center, Lisa Ross is the closest and the only ones I know much about but personally, I love Lisa Ross! There's also a birth center in Madisonville (Women's Wellness and Maternity) and in Cookeville (Infinity Birthing Center). I know women who have had great experiences with all of them.

Carmen Rogero Pitt I left a message with her yesterday morning and she's not yet returned my call. I just tried again and she didn't answer. I've heard such wonderful things about Lisa Ross and would love to see if it's a possibility.

Tricare will not pay anything towards CPM attended home births, and there are no CNM's who do contract with Tricare and also do home births. So check with Dr Brabson's practice, he has 3 midwives working with him. I would also double check with Lisa Ross, just to make sure.

Dr.Brabsons midwifes deliver at Tennova, so I dont think a birthing center will be an option unless Lisa Ross has started accepting Tricare. I am very fond of Blaire in Brabsons practice.

Lisa Ross Center!!!! The midwives are amazing and they are very naturally minded. And I have to give another plug for Open Heart Doula. I had the honor of having Alissa Claxton at my last birth, and she is wonderful.

I think she would love getting your care with the midwives at Lisa Ross even if she decided on delivering at the hospital. While it would be an OB that delivered her, they are very natural friendly especially if you are coming over from LR and who knows she might just decide to stay there! Plus they will be a huge help to prepare her for natural delivery. They accept BCBS insurance. The insurance/billing lady (I can't remember her name off the top of my head) at Lisa Ross Birth Center is awesome about working with people to set up payment schedules when needed - even self pay. I'd check with them! The midwives there are wonderful.

I loved Lisa Ross. I'm now transferred to UT obgyn and Dr. Schutko is great (for an ob) they deliver all Lisa Ross hospital patients

My OB is Kathleen Edmonds, over at st.marys. I appreciate how she listens and respects what i want, including my natural family centered cesarean. I've also heard from doulas that she worked well with them also.

The midwives at st.marys are amazing! There's also an OB in the office- Dr.Brabson! He's amazing to.

I second the midwives at Baby and Company. I had my first at Lisa Ross and it was a wonderful experience. And I'm happy to talk about my experience as well.

I just had my second homebirth with Lisa Hodgdon Coomer 10 days ago. I really can't recommend her enough. I trust this woman with my life and that trust was tested 10 days ago when my son presented himself with severe shoulder dystocia and a tightly wrapped cord that wouldn't let him descend down. Because of her knowledge and quick thinking, he's alive and well. But it was terrifying. I had an extremely traumatic hospital birth with my first son so I know if I was anywhere else, I wouldn't have my third son in my arms. I'm open to share birth stories and midwife love via PM.

Highly recommend Rachel Chandler, who I have used two times now, or Rebekah, both with Roots and Wings. There's also Debi Church and Teresa Steen, who are excellent midwife's and I've heard only positives about. There's Baby+Co for a middle ground between hospital and home birth. I've heard good things from St Mary's and the midwife's there.

Debi Church is an amazing homebirth midwife. I've had two births with her-one was in Oak Ridge.

Hi Holli! I've been a nurse at both birth centers - Madisonville and Knoxville - and am no longer with either due to a variety of reasons. I would look into the home birth services, a numbr of which will help file a claim with insurance. Debi Church might be a good start...Lisa Coomer...Rebekah Wolfram...The midwives at Tennova with Dr. Brabson have a fairly good thing going on...

I second Lisa Ross! I've had 2 babies there and had wonderful experiences.

I did not have a good experience with the midwives at Tennova/St. Marys. They were nice enough, but each prenatal appointment only lasted a maximum of TEN minutes each and they were quick to throw prescriptions at me for anything that was going on. I just felt like it wasn't really the midwifery model of care. I switched to Lisa Ross at week 36 and had an AMAZING experience with them. Caring, sweet, nurse-midwives... no interventions during my birth (except for 2 cervical checks and intermittent doppler monitoring)... it was as close to perfect as I could ask for! (Btw, I also started out at the birth center in Madisonville and switched in my first trimester out of there... not a good experience, which was sad, since I had heard great things about them and it's so close to my home!)

I birthed my third baby in 2013 and my fourth in 2015 with St. Mary's Midwifery group and LOVE them! Had a water birth with one, and now they have water labor (but not birth, due to Tennova management regulations or something; it has nothing to do with the midwives not wanting it.) They were excellent about natural options instead of the standard stuff (such as meds, glucose drink, etc.) when I inquired about it. Ditto for options with the birth such as delayed cord clamping, uninterrupted first hour with baby, and other birth "procedures."

Lisa Ross was fantastic

I used Dr Brabson and his midwifes. Although respectful and thoughtful, it's still a doctor's office. So you'll get regular bloodwork, test, ultrasounds, and pressure to induce (if there's sorta reason). It was ok but this time I chose to have a homebirth. I see my midwife regularly. She does a urinalysis and ask how I'm feeling. She recommends supplements and care for my symptoms. She will order bloodwork/test if she feels they are Necessary. There's also a basic blood panel needed in case I must transfers to a hospital during labor. My midwife has done over 2000 births so I trust her completely to know when's something is off. I've had some weird things happen this pregnancy and so ive had to get more done then I planned but she's walked me thru all my optional and help me come to what was best for me/baby and my mental health.:)

Lisa Hodgdon Coomer was my midwife. We just had our son in January. She was great through the whole process:)

I used Dr.Vick. All natural, did and encouraged everything I wanted, and he even let Daddy catch our son. 5 stars for sure!! He delivers at St.Mary's but is not part of Brabsons group.

If you're interested in a home birth, talk to Lisa Hodgdon Coomer. If you're looking for a great Dr, I highly recommend Dr Vick.
