Go see Dr David Palmer in Laguna Beach he is wonderful and affordable. Very experienced with the gifted population he is also a professor and teaches on gifted populations at uci.

David Palmer literally wrote a book on testing gifted children and understanding the results. We used Annette Sheeley years ago, and were happy with the results, although, like with nearly all twice exceptional kids, "peeling the onion" took more assessments in later years to figure out exactly (mostly!) what was going on with her.

Carolyn light is the only gifted focused psychologist that I know of in San Diego county. She is expensive! I'll email you about my phone convo with her. I hear David Palmer in OC is great and very affordable. I did not know about him when we had our son tested.

not downtown, but Fremont Community Therapy project is in Fremont (duh) so kind close. They do weekends but does not take insurance, they're affordable and sliding scale. It might be hard to find an office that does weekends downtown because of the cost of space in the area. Pro tip: use the psych today finder and email with your questions. No email? Just call. Most therapy offices have calls go direct to voicemail.

Honestly I would look up your insurance company website and find out what providers are covered. My good friend is looking for a weekend/evening therapist down in Portland and struggling to find one accepting new clients AND that takes his insurance. Best of luck!
