Normally, we try to keep recommendations to Monroe but since we are talking specialized medicine, I'm going to throw the super excellent Dr. Hillary Lampers's name in the mix. Bastyr educated, as well: http://www.nwncr.com/index.cfm/page/dr-hillary-lampers-nd-licensed-naturopathic-physician-ncr-specialist/

I know this might sound crazy but after about 3 or 4 years of not getting the right kind of help I got desperate and started going to Dr. Kris Somol a teacher and practitioner at Bastyr in Seattle. It is a long drive but sooooo worth it. Under her care I have gone from a slug on the couch only just able to take care of my daughters basic needs, to working out 3-5 days a week, losing 20lbs and counting, more positive in attitude, feeling like I might just be able to take on a little more, and more then I can list! She has helped me work through a complex set of problems including autoimmune hypothyroid and I left every appointment with her feeling empowered and positive. (I usually feel exactly the opposite after most visits with Dr's) I know I too should probably find someone locally (that was the plan after she got me mostly sorted out) but it is hard to leave someone who has made such a big difference where 3 other practitioners did not! My best advise is to keep trying Dr.'s till you find one that works well for you, even a good Dr. can't help everyone due to our different ways of communicating. I could tell some of the other Dr.s I was seeing were good at their jobs, we just didn't work well as a team and so we kept losing the game. Good luck!
Susan C. replied:
Dr. Harper is Bastyr trained and a student of Dr. Maryann Ivons who just recently relocated to AZ to teach.
Josie B. replied:
Honestly when I was sick driving at all was so hard. I love seeing someone local. I have Hashi's but was also diagnosed with a metabolic disorder. I have seen dr's ALL over WA. The best thing about DR. Stephanie is she works with you, unless you want her to take charge. Most autoimmune disorders take a ton of research to treat properly and we're all so different. I would do research and make suggestions and she was so on board. She worked with me.
I am looking for a new dentist too. My amazing dentist is retiring. He is also a naturopath. He watches most of my kids baby teeth cavities and only fills them if...

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jeremy-L-Johnson-DDS/132392890142606 Dr. J and staff are wonderful... I came to his practice just after he moved to Monroe, many years ago now... I had some really bad prior dental experiences and had let the dental woes pile up high.... He worked with me first to prioritize the work along with my insurance coverage and most importantly, showed me that dental work doesn't have to mean traumatic experiences. All of my 'serious' work has been done for years now, and I actually look forward to my cleaning visits, which are always full of great conversation and laughs.

I work in the dental field and though I don't work at this office I highly recommend them. Dr Colby Eckland-- He is very ethical and his hygienist Connie cleans my entire family's teeth. It is great office. They are in Redmond. It's a family practice and they are all great there. And the staff is very happy- and I think that speaks volumes.
